Nice views of the bay and places to relax outside

Posted 28-Feb-2015
Comfortable large room. Nice outdoor areas. A bit off the beaten track so need a car. Wifi sometimes worked in the toons. Breakfast area needs improvement, could not handle number of people. Overall value good for Key West. Felt safe here as well.

Place has potential

Posted 27-Feb-2015
The owner(s) need to invest money into the infrastructure of their facility. Our room could have been ideal with new carpeting, fresh wall paint (instead of the pealing paint in the bathroom), functioning toilet. Also, the breakfast room needs to be totally gutted and remodeled. It needs a functioning air handling system and welcoming furniture. There was bird defecation on the floor of the main entry hallway the entire time of our stay. The location though was perfect for us. The pool, "beach" grounds and the bay was very inviting. The housekeepers were friendly and tried to make our room pleasant.

Ok jacuzzi wasn't working. Place needs updating

When you think of "resort" and marina You think a little upscale etc. This is not that place. Doesn't seem they have put any money into the place. Very out dated. Rooms dusty. Railings loose. Breakfast was decent.

Pleasantly Surprised

Posted 13-Feb-2015
Pros: Good value for price paid. The staff is friendly and accomodating. The waterfront location is very nice. I would stay here again.
Location: here is nothing withing walking distance. If you don't have a car or like taxis, don't stay here. Duval St is a 35 minute walk or $15 taxi drive away.
I was expecting much less for the price paid compared to other "resort and marinas" in the area. The property is older and could use some updating, but for the most part is clean and everything worked. The room was slightly above average - spacious, furnished. Keep in mind that this hotel is waterfront, but not beachfront. There is sand leading up to a rocky area before the water. Surprise! The pool area is "clothing optional."

okay hotel

Posted 11-Feb-2015
Pros: close to downtown and nice beach sitting area
Cons: Turn off the dang music at the outside bar! I mean really not a soul at pool or beach and yet music blasting until 11:00 pm.
Location: close to town; across the street is the trolley pick up which is perfect if you don't want to walk or bad weather; good overview by trolley driver
for the price not too bad although the beds were real weak and uncomfortable

Excellent Value - But you get what you pay for....

Posted 10-Feb-2015
Pros: The king room was very clean and comfortable, although a bit dated. Balcony with a view of the pool was nice. Great Value overall.
Cons: Overall condition can only be described as "run down". The hot tub didn't work, pool bar wasn't open, and a fresh coat of paint would go a long way.
Location: Not much to do nearby. A cab or the bus is necessary to get most everywhere unless you want to fight for parking.
Overall a very nice stay. Key West is notoriously expensive and in an area where hotel rooms easily go for as much as $$$$$/day the Banana Bay was a refreshing $$$/day for a very clean and comfortable King Room with a view of the pool. 2 Queen Bed rooms overlooking the parking lot however were very run down, dirty and in need of repair. Amenities, where slim at best. No WiFi in rooms. Hot Tub didn't work. Bathroom was tiny and in need of an update. Although there was much to criticize about the facility, it was a good value for the price and I would happily stay there again.
