“Perfect”
Hotel was in a really good spot, not very far away from the beaches. It was clean and the room was very lovely.
“Cold damp room not at all clean. Smelt like bad eggs. Bedding felt damp. Have come down with a cold.”
Forget this hotel if I were you. The pool was nice. thats it. Everything else was a joke. Not at all happy. And will be reporting this hotel to the FPC so that other people will not get sick as I and my family all become. On saying all that if they were to put the money into the place it could be nice. In need of a lot of TLC and I mean A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Not Impressed - but will probably stay here again”
We had read other reviews before booking this hotel, so we weren't surprised by the ripped wallpaper in the bathroom. The room was actually cleaner than we expected, but the carpet was nasty. I have never had my feet get dirtier walking barefoot on carpet than walking barefoot outside. We did take cleaning supplies with us and I would advise anyone staying at this hotel to do the same. Having read complaints of bugs in the room, we took a bug bomb with us and released it while we left for dinner, however, we never saw any bugs - dead or alive - in the room. The best thing about this place is the pool and spa area which are clothing optional. We may stay here again just because of that. The highly advertised Tiki Bar was never open during the 4 days we stayed.
“Pleasantly Surprised”
This hotel was a lot nicer than previous comments made it to be. It is not a luxury hotel by any means but very suitable for Key West. The layout area next to the water was nice but small and the pool was good. Our stay was nice and quiet and the staff was extremely nice and helpful during our stay. The location is a cab ride away from the night life but is way easy to get around. Definitely go to Duval Street and enjoy the night life, its great!!! Clothing is optional at this hotel so if you don’t appreciate nudity, then stay away!
“"All around Good Experience"”
Comfortable accomodations, helpful staff, beautiful pool and beach view! Enjoyed Breakfast on the patio. Convenient location. Beautiful weather in mid September.
“nice, but alittle shocked!”
My husband and I had nice time and relaxing also. But one day we were trying relax around the pool side. Some other couples also were enjoying the Key West sunshine with us . Each of us were laying for awhile and then dip into pool. Then some couples came that we found out weren't even staying at hotel ,just coming and swimming in pool and laying in the sun. All of sudden I notice one women had taken her swim top off and then someone else came and she took her's off. To each thier own what they do ,but some couples started to leave. I felt really upset sitting there with my husband and they are walking around with thier tops off. I know it was a place with kids butttttttttttttttttttttttttt. It didnt feel so romatic after the women were bouncing around with no tops. Maybe if I was single but have been married for 39 years! And dont believe others couples enjoyed it either.
“Had a beautiful view from my balcony side by pool. Will stay there when I go back.”
Everything was good, had great view from room.
“creepy.”
To put it simply, I was creeped out and disgusted with everything Banana Bay had to offer. The room showed obvious signs of filth and past destruction. The mosquito netting that "romantically" adorned the canopy bed was yellow and brown with age and dust and god knows what else. The room was musty and mildewy and reeked of smoke, even though I was assured by the front desk it was non-smoking. I have asthma and the smoke made it hard for me to breathe. Out of the three lamps in the room, two of them did not have bulbs and the other one simply DID NOT WORK. We had to use the god-awful lighting over the seedy "kitchenette", I could hardly see and couldn't read in bed. (this, after notifying the front desk and nothing was done to remedy the situation. ) I wanted to leave and go back home bec. I couldn't bear to stay in this room. I would have, if we hadn't already booked a July 4th firework cruise that night. Oh, and the views. Walking in and out of the room, was a beautiful view of a overflowing DUMPSTER, and all around was a smelly, marshy mess of a landscape behind another disgusting facility. And the view of the "ocean"? The "beach" is not a beach its just a place to lay and look out at possibly the worst view of key west: the electrical line towers that run down the length of the keys and barges that are parked. The location of the hotel is terrible. Its far away from EVERYTHING.
“Away from the fray”
After a long day of all the hustle and bustle and doing the tourist thing, the peace and quiet of Banana Bay Resort and off of Duval Street was welcomed, relaxing and very much enjoyed!
“Perfect Honeymoon”
Banana Bay is not a spot for luxury and downtown convenience. Its a nook to enjoy the complete relaxation that is Key West. It's a slight trek to Duval St. and other points of interest, but is very vehicle friendly. The room was spacious with a beautiful canopy bed that topped off the charm. If you're looking for an all inclusive experience with pampering, this is not the location for you. Banana Bay is a comfortable, affordable, accessible and quiet glade of pure Key West.
