Rooms
Set back about 50 meters (55 yards) from the street at the end of a wide paving-stone driveway, the hotel offers 83 guestrooms in a four-story, white-and-gray building constructed in 1900 and remodeled in 2003. Guestroom doors are designed like gilt-framed paintings, with each door adorned by a copy of a past Italian notable's portrait, and a brass plaque identifying the subject and the painter.
Ultra-contemporary room decor contains grid-patterned walls and ceilings of black or fuchsia leather or fuchsia cloth, with tiny fiber-optic lights set into grids' intersections, creating a starlit-night effect. Lighting also includes 6-foot white-acrylic column lamps, floor-level nightlights, and spotlights above high desks, with swivel stools located at beds' feet. Bedside consoles control all lights.
Platform beds are slightly elevated on wood platforms. Drawings of clothes on hangers decorate closets. Mosaic-tile bathrooms by Italian tile-maker Bisazza contain shower/tub combinations or walk-in showers with rainshower heads and no tubs. All-white bedding includes linen bed covers. In addition to standard pillows, a pillow menu offers four choices.
High-tech features include 32-inch plasma televisions with complimentary movies and sports, and Internet access via wireless keyboards (surcharge). Desks include electrical outlets and high-speed Internet connections (surcharge) for laptop computers. Slippers provide lounging comfort.

“Not Impressed at all - Never Again!!”
This hotel is on the outskirts and TOO FAR OUT of the centre of Florence and after all, that is what I go to Florence for ... the major beautiful attractions and pavement cafes, beautiful squares and the Duomo etc. The breakfast was very mediocre. Tinned fruit, cheap hams and cheese, all convenience foods and tasteless. We chose this hotel on the previous reviews ... they must have been referring to another hotel as it certainly was not this one !!! Totally upset and disappointed. It was a weird hotel and very small rooms and the only saving grace - the crisp cotton sheets and the tiny lights in the walls and ceilings looking like sleeping under the stars .. that was pretty cool. We paid 60 euros in taxis and were only there one night an 10 euros for internet access, so it was not economic sense to stay there either. This hotel spoilt our weekend break. Also, on the last day there was a marathon, so all streets were naturally closed off to traffic. However we were unaware of this and ordered a taxi to go to the station for our return to the UK. He took us about 100 yards and then informed us of the marathon and therefore couldn't take us any further, charged us 8euros !!! just another irritation. So if you add the 70 euros to the cost of the hotel, my advice is to stay in the centre every time. But definitely not at this weird out of the way hotel. I love Expedia and trust it enormously so will always book through this site. i understand that the reviews are from customers.
“Unique , fun boutique hotel”
This hotel was wonderful! It had a wonderful, unique vibe, was very comfortable and clean and the complimentary breakfast was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved it! My only complaint is the distance from the city center, but with Florence being a flat city it was not too bad of a walk. Enjoyed the fresh air, walking along the river.
“modernised hotel with classical service”
A great hotel with very modernistic sometimes " over the top" or "off the Wall" but very interesting decor. The staff were delightful - cheerful, friendly and ever helpful and the shuttle bus to the centre of Florence was a real bonus.Neither florence nor the hotel are cheap but we felt we had great value.
“Great place to stay in Florence”
Good location within walking distance of the centre of town. The hotel decoration is interesting, each door is a painting! Dinner was not so good but was made up by an extensive breakfast. We would certainly use it again.
“Florence Getaway”
Overall, nice accommodations although a bit out of the way (across the river) from main attractions. However, the complimentary van shuttle (to/from train station) was very much appreciated and we used it to get closer to downtown area. Really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast spread. Front desk very patient and helpful in addressing our numerous inquiries. Good value for the money in spite of everything being so expensive (overpriced?) in Italy. Be prepared to 'ante-up' several euros every time you need to use a public restroom, a rather annoying local custom if you're not used to it.
“Not impressed”
The location of this hotel is not convinient, but for those who like walking long distances the location will not be a problem. Rooms in the hotel are kept clean and are not large. The color of walls in the rooms and hallways are dark and unpleasant. Breakfast is good with different kinds of food to choose from. The front desk people are quite helpful.
“Great hotel, but it is a walk to downtown”
The hotel is very unique with its modern style. The rooms are about normal size for Europe, but very comfortable. The 6A bus picks you up about 100 meters from the hotel gate and takes you quickly downtown. The walk however from the hotel to downtown on a warm summer day would be pushing it for some people. We saw several reviews that said the rooms were small. In our opinion the rooms are about the average European size hotel room. Breakfast was included with the room and was a good way to start the day. If you arrive after noon don't expect to walk around and find a restaurant open, they are all closed until between 6 and 7:30PM. The only restaurants that are open at that time of day are the ones located in the tourist area downtown
“Cool Decoour, Not central”
The staff were very helpful, funky designed hotel, in nice quiet area. To get to centre of town it is a bit of a walk, There is a bus stop nearby but didn't use it as the walk along river is nice.
“Lovely Modern Hotel with helpful staff”
Excellent hotel - located slightly out of the city but a lovely walk into Florence by the river.
“other side of the arno”
This was the second time that I stayed at this hotel. The price for a three night stay made it hard to resist. The service and included breakfast were very good. Some might find the ultra modern decor a little garish The only negative about this hotel is that it resides on opposite side of the Arno from the town center which is about a 15-20 minute walk away. A word of warning: the hotel gave us a map upon which they marked the hotel and the nearby stop for the #6 bus which takes you to the center of Florence. While the #6 bus is convenient for traveling to the town center, returning is another matter. The loop it takes through the city is very far afield, and it is far quicker and easier to either walk or take a taxi.
