“Best Hotel I've Ever Stayed In”

I can't begin to describe how great this hotel is. Firstlly, the location is completely awesome. It's minutes away from Ponte Vecchio (walking) and othr major tourist sites. Secondly, the service is impeccable. We walked in after a crazy time trying to get to Florence and the staff immeidately put you at ease. We were on our honeymoon and they upgraded us immediately and had champagne waiting in our suite. Thirdly, the room was amazing. Completely clean and updated to the nines (TV in bathroom mirror, Waterford Crystal chandelier, and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in). This is at the very top echelon of hotels I've ever stayed in. This hotel is truly 5 stars!!

“History and luxury combined”

This wondeful hotel is pure luxury but worth the investment for the experience and the memories.

Traveller's tip
Email the hotel in advance to ask them to reserve tickets for the Uffitzi and Accademia to aviod internet booking fees and queues on the day. Also, although very expensive, book a personal tour guide again in advance from the concierge, for a 3 hour masterclass in art history and you are taken to the key works and hear and appreciate their significacnce.

“Fabulous Hotel”

The Grand Hotel is beautiful and the views from the room amazing! I highly recommend this for a romantic getaway.

Traveller's tip
Il Profeta restaurant around the corner treated us like royalty and the food was the most sublime we had in our three weeks of travel across Italy. Although,, I must admit we never did have a bad meal.

“Wonderful Staff”

A good quality hotel with a very friendly staff...Laundry is pricy but, the front desk, concierge and cleaning staff are service oriented...Well worth your stay...Large rooms and well located.

Traveller's tip
A guide for the two main museums is worth the money...There are numerous restuarants to choose and most are very good...If you are going to Italy, Florence is a must.

“Grand Hotel Florence”

The hotel is located on the Arno river within walking distance or short taxi ride of all the major sites. The hotel itself is in a small plaza which is quiet. I found the room to be luxurious and well appointed. The only downside to us was the concierge seemed to be stuck with traditional touristy recommendations for dining. All the trattorias were great in Florence and food is truly terrific but after a couple of meals we wanted some variety. We had done some of our own research and ventured out a bit further. They did efficiently arrange transportation for us. Overall great experience.

Traveller's tip
Get to the Uffizi on day 1 and reserve your tickets for a later visit. All booking services add more $$ on top of the already high rates. If you are planning on being in and around Italy for several days and are a family of 4 consider buying the "Friends of the Uffizi" pass which allows you access to all the museums and without bookings and can overall be a bargain.

“A Great Hotel”

The staff was absolutely wonderful, the hotel was immaculate. We had 2 rooms and they were well maintained and not dated looking. The rooms are well appointed and very luxurious. The bed was extremely comfortable. We arrived at 1:00 AM and the boys were hungry and ordered 2 sandwiches which were priced higher than some of our meals and they left half of it because they did not like it.The breakfast was also very pricey even at the special rate and was not worth it. Other than that the hotel is a great place to stay, especially off season!

Traveller's tip
Take a cooking class in Florence. It was a lot of fun and we made great food!
