“Great deal!”

While the hotel is not much to look at on the outside, the rooms are wonderful! Most of the rooms have been renovated recently and are modern and airy. We had a junior suite which was perfect for three single travelers. The walk-in closet was a treat and even though we were all getting ready for a wedding and other events at the same time it never felt crowded. The full breakfast was good for a European hotel. The location was great- 1 block from the Arno and we walked to everywhere in the historic district and beyond. Reviewers who said it was too far are just lazy!

“Satisfaction guaranteed”

The hotel is only a tram ride away from the SMN train station. You can also walk 15 mins if you're not taking the tram. Close to the Arno river, Ponte Vecchio and the tourist attraction. Breakfast is good and staffs are really helpful. Definitely worth staying here.

“Family Tourists”

High class hotel. Rooms are big (we were staying in so named executive rooms) and clean. Breakfast is good. Receptionist is very helpful. Location is not far from the Central Railway Station. Around 10 min to walk, so in common you don't need taxi at all.

“Very Nice Hotel”

This was a very nice Hotel, they gave a V. good breakfast good for Pure Vegetarians like us. We changed our room from twin occupancy to triple occupancy for our friend and they did it immediately and charged reasonablly for it. The Location is a bit out from the main tourist attractions, but the metro bus picks and drops you in front of the hotel. this is a good Budget hotel, with high comfort. though this hotel is a little old, but nicely maintained. The staff was very co-operative, they assisted us for all our queries. we stayed in Ibis hotel in our further travel to rome and paris, they were worst hotel in compared to this hotel.

Dining
if you need indian restaurant, you will find the same on a 10 min. walk from the hotel, the hotel staff will let you know where it is.
Nightlife
be careful of timings of this city, almost all shops in the city open at 8 AM and close by 7 PM. this should be taken care off, while planning your day.

“Very quite and clean hotel”

This hotel lived up to our expectations. About 15mins walk to the centre of Florence, alongside of the River Arno. Just right to walk the excellent dinners that we had in some very nice restaurants.

Area recommendations
The centre of Florence, as it had all the sights that you would like from the Medici period.
Getting around
It was so easy to get around Florence. You did not need buses or taxis, just your legs.

“Nice hotel, but not close enough to where we wanted to be”

The hotel itself was a non-factor on our visit to Florence. It's a nice hotel - similar in many respects to an American chain hotel such as a Marriott or Hilton. They featured a nice morning breakfast. Their internet access was a disappointment - they use a 3rd party to provide wireless access. The 3rd party connection appeared to have a firewal that blocked my VoIP phone (such as Skype, or MagicJack) and was expensive costing about 22 euros for 24 hours - the hotel where I stayed in Rome offered free high speed internet and did not block my VoIP phone - so I could call the states on my PC using the internet connection and save money. We went to Florence to see the Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, Michaelangelo's David sculpture and the famous Ponte Vecchio neighborhood. This hotel was a bit of a distance from those areas - probably at least a mile or more. Walking to those areas in the early evening during the daylight was okay - you can walk along the nearby river and see some nice views, but coming back was a different matter so we took a taxi. While the hotel was nice, it wasn't the best choice for our travel plans so if I return to Florence, I would stay elsewhere.

Area recommendations
I would stay in the Ponte Vecchio or Duomo neighborhood south and east of the train station. Florence is not a very large city, but is crowded. They do not have a subway system - but do offer street trolleys. Getting from one neighborhood area to another seemed more complicated than what we experienced in Rome. Most of what we were interested in seeing was not in this neighborhood so this choice for a hotel could've been better.
Getting around
Walking around Florence wasn't great, but also wasn't impossible. Since Florence does not have a subway system, that was out. We never really figured out how to use the street trollies - and even if we did, I don't know that they went very far into the neighborhoods we were interested in seeing. Luckily, taxis in Italy are pretty reasonable so we took taxis on occassion.
Must see
A must see is the Duomo. Pictures cannot do this location justice. It should be considered as one of the manmade wonders of the world. It is massive and incredibly intricate. The outside is nearly as grand as the inside. The surrounding neighborhood is also woth a visit - especially at night. The Piazza della Signoria near the Duomo features a Carousel, gelato shops, street performers and open air markets that teem with activity when the sun goes down. The evening we went, there was an orchestra playing live music with accompanying ballet performance in the shadow of the Duomo - which was illuminated with changing shades of light - the culmination of the music, the performance, and the majesty of the Duomo was quite a site we will alwasy remember. We also visited the musuem where Michaelangelo's statue of David is on display. It was expensive to get in, did not allow any photos of the sculptures (I can undertand prohibiting photos of paintings, but sculptures?), and took over an hour of standing in line to get in. While this is no slight to Michaelangelo, if I had to do over - I wouldn't.
Shopping
High end shopping is prevalent in Florence - if you want your Gucci, your Yves St Laurent, etc, it's all here waiting for you. In the street markets, you can get some decent prices on leather goods as Florence seems to be a center for Italian leather. From what I've been told, many people come to Florence soley to shop - that wasn't me.
Dining
We had the best mealof our 10 dayvacation while we were in Florence. Food in Florence tends to feature more meat than what we encountered in Rome - specifically - beef. Florence is well known for their white beans and Chianti - so you might want to sample that while you are there - I'm persoanlly not a big bean person, but these did taste remarkable. Most of the better restaurants can be found near the shopping district near the Porto Vecchio. We ate a place called the La Grotto Guelfa that was fantastic - my son who seems to exist solely on chicken nuggets and pizza actually tried something different and said it was the best meal he had ever eaten (hopefully, that's the end of chicken nuggets).

“Nice but a little out the way”

When reading the review on expedia i was abit worried about the location of the hotel and the noise outside the hotel. but i thought why not give it a go as the price was reasonbale and provided breakfast and a free shuttle bus. from the SMN station it is about 15min walk and a bit away from the main attractions, but it is wise to print a map out otherwise you will get lost. once we knew where we were, we were able to find all the surroundnig location with a map provided by the hotel. overall hotel was nice and pleasant, staff were friendly but couldnt speak much english. breakfast was ok, i wouldnt rush for it. the also provided a suttle service which would drop you to SMN station which was very handy as near to the end of the trip we were tired from all the walking, as there is alot to see. the noise isnt to bad only when you open window but that is to be expected as they were doing road works. i would recommend this hotel and would stay again...just make sure you have correct walking shoes.

Traveller's tip
make sure you get a map which tells you were everything is, it is all walking distance so thats not a problem just pace yourself and make it run through 3days as we rushed it in 2days which still worked. Nightlife isnt very good, the clubs open and bars and restaurants close at 11ish, so make sure you head out early. overall nice place to visit buildings are fantastic to look at, make sure you go to Pisa on the way back

“Hotel parfait pour un week end à Florence”

Hôtel assez froid d'extérieur, mais dans un quartier à seulement 15 minutes à pied du centre et avec transport en commun à proximité. Une fois à l'intérieur, tout est très beau, décoré avec raffinement tout en étant chaleureux. Le personnel est très accueillant, la chambre classic est spacieuse et bien agencée, parfait pour un long week end à Florence, du tout bon!
