“Nice hotel near all sites and close to bus and rail.”
The room was large and spacious. It was a short walk to all must see places such as the Duomo, Uffizi and Medici Palace and Chapel. It did not disappoint. Breakfast was satisfying as well.
“Excellent Location”
Easy walking distance from main sights - 10min to Duomo and 5min to San Lorenzon, Accadamia and San Marco. Good sized rooms although regular rooms perhaps a little tired looking. Some noise carries from corridors into rooms as doors lack sound proofing. Excellent staff service and reasonable if occasionally crowded breakfast. Some character rooms such as lounge. A clean, friendly hotel in a good location and at a good price if nothing amazing.
“I would stay there again”
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. It was lovely to have breakfast on the terrace every morning though the breakfast itself was a bit basic - a few boiled eggs would have gone down well! The location was great - very easy and enjoyable walking to all the major sites. Our room was spotless and the bed comfortable though the air conditioning was not very effective and a lack of shower curtain meant the bathroom floor was soaked after every shower. Despite that I would recommend the hotel and stay again on another visit to Florence
“Recommended”
Close to major attractions on foot: 10 minutes to dom, 15-20 to ufficie. Great all you can eat buffet next to the hotel, wonderful $$$ restaurant around the corner (taverna del bronzino). Helpful receptionists, good breakfast, reasonable prices.
“Perfect mix of contemporary style with historic building”
This wonderful historic buiilding is modernised in a sympathetic way to give every comfort whilst retaining beautiful historic features. The breakfast room leads onto a first floor terrace where there are also sun loungers and comfortable chairs. The location is quiet whilst being very close to the Accademia and a short walk from the central attractions. It's perfect for a short stay. If you stay longer, as we did, the hotel feels impersonal as breakfast is self-service with no waiters, there's no sign of a host/manager and the receptionists are efficient but functional. So during our five nights we had noone to greet us and make us feel welcome. A nice touch was a letter from 'someone' at the hotel on my birthday to give their good wishes, but who were they? Otherwise, perfect.
“Jewel hotel in Florence”
Hotel location is fantastic. At once quiet and in the center of all the sites. We wanted to visit a town called Fiesole with beautiful views of Florence and the bus dropped us off around the corner from the hotel. Everything was clean, inviting and our triple room was bigger than we would expect in the States. Definitely a #1 choice for an unforgettable stay in Florence.
“Beware of Room Number 24 and similar”
We had booked a double room, but were given this single room instead. Very small and not refurnished as the rest of the hotel. The bathroom had no curtain, and when we mentioned it to the reception staff, they said we should have asked for one when making the reservation!! They suggested we change a shower for a dip in the bath-tub. A real pity, the hotel has been restored and looks really nice; but look out for this kind of tricks, let alone the help at the front desk.
“I will likely choose another hotel”
Only the Lobby area has been upgraded. The rest of the hotel is getting old and tired. They need to redo the rooms and should consider some sound proofing. Breakfasts were OK. Overall a good position while in Florence. On the whole the staff were helpful. Overpriced for the the accommodation provided. They can do this because of the season and the number of tourists in the city.
“Solid”
Excellent overall. We had some noise in morning due to room being close to breakfast area. Good breakfast, though. Great location.
“Hotel Orto De Medici”
A lovely hotel at a reasonable price. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The terrace for breakfast was pleasant and secluded . The hotel was ideally placed making walking to attractions very easy. 5 minutes from railway station and 5 minute walk to the centre of Florence. I would definitely stay there again
