Centrally placed.

Posted 12-Oct-2014
This B and B is right in the heart of Florence and within easy walking distance of most of the must see places. It is clean and comfortable enough, but though it has two chairs, it lacks any comfortable chair for sitting in. Although described as a B and B the breakfast is actually provided through vouchers usable at two nearby restaurants which entitle one to a small cup of coffee and a pastry which have to be eaten standing up. Roberto who looks after the place is not always there but when present he is invariably friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the place is up 80 steps and so is probably unsuitable for the elderly or the arthritic. There is no elevator. I think that I got more or less what I paid for and the central location was a definite plus. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone else if asked.

good location...characterless

Posted 27-Sep-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Almost everything. The room feels like a cell.
Location: Quite close to Florence train station and easy walking distance to many landmarks.
A "bed and breakfast" without the breakfast. Vouchers provided to have coffee and a croissant elsewhere. Hosts not at the facility, but can be phoned if there is a problem. Expected stairs as no lift, but 80 stairs! On the bright side the accommodation encourages you to leave early and not return till late. It's very sterile and unwelcoming.

After so many years we can easly say that we meet many tourist, everyone different each other from a different country and mentality ...as always we try to offer the best as we can and it made us happy to see that all our guests enjoy his stay, appreciate and understand what we do ...sometime any effort would be innutile and there always been a source of complain. We are thinking that you were taking advantage of our patience and you were searching any single possibility to find a situation for a complain. Best Regards

I would not call this place a hotel. It's maybe a shelter or a hostel. The place has no porters or bellhops. You have to carry your bags up to the 4th. floor. Do not expect any help from the owner. The place has no room service no matter how long you stay. The host does not stay in the place, and you can only communicate with him using text messaging. On arrival, the host, Roberto, gave us personally only one small towel. The absence of bath towels was explained as a laundry problem. We were afraid to put on the white bathrobes because they were grayed. There was a chilly night and we found no blankets. Then we struggled with toilets which did not flush and with a room's door we could hardly manage to open. Instead of apologies we were blamed for things we had never done. Check out is at 10:00 AM. We freed our rooms around 8:00 AM. We wanted only to leave our bags somewhere for several hours because our train's departure was later in the afternoon. That is a regular hotel service but not at Olga's house. We were refused. The owner said that it is not his business to guard our bags, even though he promised this the day before. When I asked him if Olga's House is a hotel, he admits the answer is - " NO " . You definitely do not want to depend on a mood of an unfriendly owner of Olga’s House at beautiful Florence.

Stay was excellent. One of the few Italian hotels with a large bed which can accomodate Western guests. Also very clean and comfortable. Tip: Request for a room which is not on the street side since it is quite noisy. This is not a good hotel if you are old, have medical conditions or a lot of luggage since there are quite a lot of stairs to get to hotel.

Olga's house

Posted 31-Jul-2013
Pros: location is perfect
Cons: It is a bed and breakfast with only 5 rooms so it is what you get. You should be told that there is no coffee or breakfast on site, though.
Location: you can walk to everything from this hotel. IT is an easy walk 15 -20 minutes from the train station. Ask for walking directions from traIN
Olga's house is centrally located and very clean. IT is a long way up to your room considering that you have to go about 8 flights of stairs each time you return. Once there it is nice and clean. Roberto, the owner and manager is very friendly but not always on site. You have to call and let him know when you are coming so that he is there. The breakfast is not located in the hotel. YOu get a voucher to have 1 very small cup of coffee and 1 pastry at a choice of 2 restauants nearby.

Friendly, warm, and centrally located!

Posted 11-Dec-2012
Pros: Warm and friendly.
Cons: 80 steps but not really a big deal.
Location: Because of the central location, your shopping, food and touring needs are met!
Heated tile floors, hot showers AND a heating element for your towel plus a doting owner. I could not have asked for a more comfortable and secure place to stay in Florence. Because it is in the heart of Piazza della Signoria, you are only a few steps from wonderful food, shopping and sights. As a sole owner, Roberto wears many hats so I was very thankful for his time and attention during my stay. I highly recommend his place and look forward to staying there again!

Location, location, location!

You can't get a better location than this. It's in the heart of the city and everything is walkable. Great for travelers who are in shape because the hike up the stairs to the room with the suitcases is really long and steep (80-100 stairs). If you can climb the stairs, then the stay is worth it. Great trip and great place.
