“Great little hotel”

Hotel close to train station and the pretty Novella Santa Maria. Staff very accommodating to our early arrival. Location central to all walking tours and markets.

“Great location, very helpful staff”

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in late September/early October. We were a little apprehensive after reading some reviews of the surrounding area at night time. However, we found that the piazza was well lit at night and just had a lot of people (mostly younger folks and families) hanging out - probably due to the fact that this piazza had lots of shade and seating and grassy areas. There weren't people harassing you to buy things like most of the other piazzas and very few pigeons. Our stay started off poorly when we went to our room as it was a smoking room and my wife has allergies. We called the front desk and they gave us a new room immediately. We were so grateful because it made our stay much more enjoyable. The rooftop bar and pool were fantastic with stunning views of the city and dome. It was a very tranquil area to relax at night with a cocktail. The location was within walking distance to all of the major sites and very close to the train station.

“Will stay here again.”

We have stayed at this hotel many times. On previous visits we had rooms that were very small and beds that do not fit my husband, he is very tall. This visit we were surprised to get the a room on the 5th floor. Our room was more than adequate and the bed king sized. The rooftop pool is an added benefit and looks toward the duomo. Views cannot be beat. Because we stay here frequently, this is an added plus. Breakfast is absolutely more than adequate. Hotel staff very helpful for any needs. Now that Santa Maria Novella and the piazza has been redone, it is beautiful. You are not in the thick of things but that is our preference; everything is nearby.

“Great location close to train station”

Close to train station, good size rooms. Unfortunately had a sewerage emergency on second day we were there, so woken at 5.30am by large trucks arriving then the odour began. This is out of the hotels control but unfortunately it spoilt our stay. Pool area although small was good and well visited. They also provide free nibbles, fruit etc at the pool bar. Carpets, rooms etc staring to get a bit tired looking. Could not fault the staff, they were all very helpful and pleasant

“Fantastic location”

The hotel was very convenient for the railway station. The piazza was lovely and had a number of restaurants of good quality. It is right next to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Novella which is a beautiful building. The hotel itself was quiet and efficient. The room was immaculate and looked out onto the piazza. It was cleaned daily. Breakfast was very varied and of a high quality with helpful staff.

Area recommendations

The Uffizi is a must, but try to book tickets ahead. The piazza around the statue of David is beautiful for a drink and some people watching but watch out for the price of drinks. The Ponto Vecchio is worth a wander but prices are very high. The Duomo is very interesting. We did find that arriving on a Saturday and leaving on Tuesday, some tourists sights are closed on Monday and have limited opening times on Sunday.

“Great location”

“Condtional Recommendation”

The location is excellent. It's only a short walk from the train station and to the Duomo. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The room was much larger than the rooms we had in Rome, Venice, and Milan. The not so good - I had to ask for the Wi-Fi password and key to the room safe after check-in. These things should have been offered at check-in for convenience. Otherwise, the service was excellent. There was a funny smell in the room. There were powerful air fresheners in the room and in the cooridors, which makes me think this is a known issue throughout the hotel. The smell wasn't strong enough for us to ask for a new room, but it was the reason for the downgrades in the satisfaction ratings.

Area recommendations

As long as you stay near the city center, all off the main attractions are within easy walking distance. Florence is relatively small, flat and easy to navigate with a hotel map.
