“Nice small hotel”
Great small hotel for shorter trips, you may well get a little claustrophobic in the small rooms if you're staying a little longer. Staff very helpful, great location for the tourist areas, however the surrounding neighbourhood isn't the best (being quite close to the train station - but that's also a good thing if you need to leave early!)
“Would definately go back”
We have just returned from staying at the Globus (9 and 10/6/11) and were really pleased with the hotel. We were travelling with our 7 and 5 year old so requested a quiet room if possible and got one. Ideal size with a large kingsize bed and 2 singles and situated at the back of the hotel. It is within an area of shops, supermarkets and cafes/restaurants and is only about 10 minutes walk from the Duomo. There is a large market selling all sorts of souveniers and leather goods on route from the hotel to the Duomo which made the walk feel shorter still. We travelled in by car (sat nav a must) and found there was privately run parking about 200 metres away at a cost of around 25-30 euros per day subject to car size, but there are a number of these companies around. The staff at the Globus were extremeley pleasant, friendly and informative. They have free wi fi and even provided you a lap top in room to use. Breakfast was also typical continental style and more than adequate. Staff here again very accomodating. It is worth noting that there is no lift from the ground floor up to reception (which is up two flights of stairs) but from reception to your room there is a lift. Although not ideal, families with buggies could manage, I know we would have but anyone with wheelchairs/walking difficulties might find it a problem. That is the only negative of what is otherwise a super hotel.
“Hidden gem in Florence”
When booking this Hotel I was quite worried as the reviews I read all said very nice but rooms very cramped. In fact the Globus was clean, bright, a little edgy and great fun. The rooms are small but we weren't in them long enough for it to be a problem! It is 5 mins from the train and bus station, 10mins from the Duomo and the Accademia,15 mins from the Uffizzi and the Ponte Vecchio. Perfectly situated! Lots of places to eat very close by as is the street market that's open every day and the food market that was open on the Tuesday. The best thing about the Hotel apart from the yummy breakfast was the staff. Helpful and friendly. I would recomment this to anyone.
“Such helpful and friendly hotel staff”
What a lovely hotel. Great location. Clean and comfy. Such friendly and helpful staff who are on reception 24hrs a day. Tasty European breakfast - pastries, cold meats etc and served up until 10am. All round great place to stay.
“Very satisfied customers”
The four of us have just returned from a wonderful 8 nights in Florence. Globus is very well situated - easy walking distance for anywhere in the centre of Florence and very close to the train station for excursions further afield. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly - and the breakfasts really set you up for the day. The bedrooms were comfortable - and cleaned to a very high standard. Just euros 25 in the taxi from the local airport - or a short walk from the central station if you are landing in Pisa. Siena is also easy to get to on the train, and the tickets are relatively cheap and easy to obtain - once you have mastered the complexities of the automatic ticket machines! Also take a bus from St Mark's square to Fiesole for the views. There is an excellent and reasonably-priced local restaurant around the corner - the Lampara, Via Nazionale. We were made to feel very welcome (with the complimentary lemoncillas!). Finally, if you are going to see the Michaelangelo David, go Thursday evening after 7 - it is free and there are no queues.
“Perfectly situated”
Hotel Globus is right in the heart of Florence. It is a 5 min walk from the train station, and then 5 mins to the Duomo. Location is perfect. The staff we brilliant, always happy, friendly, helpful. I was ill for a couple of days and was asked how I was doing and sent cups of tea. Room was a good size, comfortable and clean. We even had sky TV in the room so could watch some english speaking programmes which we hadn't been able to do in 2 weeks. The only downside to this hotel is there is a flight of steps to reception without a lift and then (as we were on the top floor) 3 more flights of steps to our room. There is a lift from reception but it moves slower than a snail and it is quicker to climb the steps. The staff did offer to carry our bags though. Not wheelchair accessible.
“Excellent value”
The staff were very friendly, spoke good English. Although our room was a bit small , all we did was take a siesta in the daytime and sleep at night, all in all what we wanted. Breakfast was fairly basic, but all we needed to start the day.We would have no hesitation in staying there again. As it is in reach of all attractions it made the stay well worthwhle.
“Superb location and friendly, helpful staff”
The hotel is a short walk from the station and within easy reach of the Cathedral and other places to visit in the city. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good...plenty to set you up for the day. Appreciated the free internet access in the reception area. Room was small but clean and comfortable, with easy-to-control air conditioning. Would recommend this hotel...very good value.
“Excellent hotel in great location”
This is a lovely hotel only a couple of minutes walk from the bus/train station and a great location for sightseeing in Florence. There is a market at the end of the street which is there 7 days a week. The hotel is just as described and shown in the photos. The room we had was for four people and we had a king sized bed and two singles for our children. It was a good sized room and very modern in decor. There was a tv with Sky and a laptop with internet to use if we wanted. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and there was a good selection of food for the continential breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly stay there again if and when we next visit Florence.
