“Suberb location - more than I expected”

The previous reviews for this hotel were very favorable, however being British, I went with a certain amount of pessimism! I was pleasantly surprised to find that any doubts I may have had were unfounded. The location, standard of accommodation, standard of cleanliness etc were excellent. I had booked a triple room and was expecting to be squashed into one room - not so. We had a two bedroom, two bathroom suite, which looked out over an old church and a terrace. The staff ranged from super friendly and efficient, to maybe slightly indifferent - but, you get that everywhere. I would challenge anyone not to love this hotel and its location, right next to the River Arno and the Ponte Vecchio.

“Great Location, Great Staff, Great Hotel!”

Located on the Arno River, not far from the Ponte Vecchio and a short walk to the bus and train stations, this hotel is perfect whether you plan to explore Firenze or use public transport to do day trips to Pisa or the Tuscan countryside. (We did both!) The staff was outstanding. Very friendly and always helpful. Both nights the desk clerk recommended a different restaurant and they were both excellent. The room was large, comfortable and decorated in typical Italian grandeur. All in all very nice although our room faced a side alley and didn't have a direct view of the river. (No problem..it was more fun to step outside and sit on the bridge watching the world go by in person anyways!)

“Great location”

Hotel was very clean but the rooms were small. No iron in room so we had to pay for the service. Not a big deal as it was only 2-4 Euros. Didn't spend much time in the room so not a real issue. Very well located so that was a big plus. I would recommend this hotel.

“Gorgeous hotel”

Fantastically convenient hotel, only about a block away from the Uffizi. It is clean, quiet, the staff is very helpful. The rooms was gorgeous. We had a loft room - two bathrooms and a large balcony. I would stay again in a heart beat. The only tricky part - figuring out how to get there by car. There are many illogical one way streets. I think we had to cross the river three times in about a mile to get there. Pick up a good map before you drive into the city....

“A second very satisfied visit”

When we arrived we were given an upgrade to a room with a view of the River Arno, half a block from the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is charming, stylish and well run. All the staff are charming and very helpful. The choice at breakfast is excellent and sets you up for the whole day. If, like us, you have a room facing the busy road that runs by the river you may find wax ear plugs helpful. We never travel without them. The double-glazing kept out all but the noise of occasional police & ambulance sirens or of high-pitched motor-scooters and, anyway, the view far out-weighed any traffic noise.

“A gem of a hotel”

We were delighted with this hotel and cannot recommend it enough. The staff are polite and helpful, the breakfast is excellent and the location is perfect - just minutes from the Ufizie. We booked a room overlooking the Arno, which was well worth the additional charge - amazing view with the river almost flowing below the little balcony. It was a lovely room, plenty of space, extremely comfortable bed and a good sized tiled bathroom. Special treat - hot chocolate you can order at the bar and bring to your room!

“FLORENCE XMAS 2009”

Once we arrived at the Hotel all was fine. Location I had checked and was even more impressed with the Hotel on arrival. Very clean and nicely laid out. Breakfast was better than a lot of European Hotels and the lobby Bar was quiet and pleasant. Location of Hotel was perfect for walking to all the major attactions and some unexpected ones we found off the beaten track. Lots of Eating Houses and quite reasonable if you kept away from the ones near the main attractions. Overall a beautiful City and well worth a visit & Hote Berchelli is the best.
