Great location in the center of Florence

Posted 29-Jul-2014
The staff made our stay very enjoyable. Helpful advice and a map got us off to a great start. They even arranged a taxi for our departure. Tucked away on a side street. Second floor with an elevator. Quite nice.

Conveniently located

Posted 25-Jun-2014
Pros: The attention of the staff.
This in a quiet street, but in the midst of all the places to be found in Florence, walking you can get anywhere, the train station is a 15 minute walk, the attention of the staff was very good, our arrival was late, but we called and waited, recommend for a stay there.

Good hotel but noisy neighbourhood

Posted 28-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
The room was clean and the staff good. But the building is located off a busy street and one of our group is a light sleeper so she had trouble sleeping. Location very convenient to all sights. Note if you have a car, you'll need to find a car park for overnight as the hotel doesn't have parking.

A personal hotel right in the centre of Florence

Posted 12-Sep-2013
Pros: see above
Cons: The breakfast was a bit meagre but only by Italian generous standards!
Location: see above - the whole of the historic centre of Florence, including the Cathedral, Dante's house, Medici Palaces, Uffizi Gallery, etc. is a step away
This small 'Albergo' is quite difficult to find, but when you do you are in a delightful 300 year old house right in the centre of Florence's old historic dcity - we could see Dante's house from our bedroom window. It is run by an old man and his son, Luca, who were both extremely helpful and informative about Florence (and how to drive out of the city, when you need to!). Garage parking is a short 5 minute walk away (25 Euros the night) . Our room was comfortable with adequate facilities and a good en-suite bathroom (good shower). There was no TV, but who needs that in a city where balmy evenings keep you out in the street enjoying the marvellous surroundings. We plan to go back to Florence - one night was nowhere near enough, but we had time constraints - and would certainly stay in the Fernando II dei Medici again.

Good central location

Posted 30-May-2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Breakfast
Location: Close to Duomo and Uffizzi Gallery, shopping and restaurants. Can walk everywhere from here.
The location is very good, and our room ( a triple) was large. It is an old fashioned hotel, and the room could do with painting. Beds were comfortable enough. Breakfast was ordinary, but adequate. Nearby restaurants were fine, especially Trattoria Buzzino.

Good value hotel in the centre of Florence

Posted 08-May-2013
Pros: Location and cleanliness and size of the room
Cons: Breakfast and smell of cigarette smoke in public areas of hotel
Location: Excellent, though you need a detailed map as it is down a little side street and my guide book did not show the street name on its map.
I spent a pleasant two nights at this hotel during a weekend to Florence. The main good point is its excellent location, only a few minutes walk to the Duomo and Palazzo de Vecchio. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable and I liked the high ceilings. The downside is the breakfast which is very basic, just cornflakes, a few slices of toastbread and jam and an out of the packet croissant (I don't think this ever changes). And for those who can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke then this hotel might not be for you as both mornings I had breakfast the proprietor must have been smoking in his office as the smell was quite strong in the dining room. Overall this is a good value hotel right in the centre of Florence.
