“Great hotel to stay in just outside Florence”
Located close to airport, eventough you can walk to it, sidewalks are not so friendly. Cab to hotel is about 10Eur (Oct 2011). Staff very friendly and helpful, eventough not all speak English. Bus to downtown can be taken after about 3min walk (out of hotel to left all the way until you see the stop), tickets can be bought in hotel, travel to downtown takes about 25min. Keeping going aftert the bus stop, in a big 2 ways street has restaurants/bars (in that street you come off the bus when coming back from downtown). Recommend to look for "Da Franco" restaurant (15min walk), is run by Italian family, food and prices are great (menu in Italian only but dictionary for English/French is available, staff talks english too). Highly recommended hotel.
“Airport Hotel”
Great airport hotel ( 5 minute cab ride); more than expected for the price. Good restaurants within walking distance. Drawback - website lists free nightly reception; there is no such thing & they acted like they never heard of it even when we pointed it out on the website.
“was very happy with the hotel for the price paid”
This is my second visit to Florence and I was looking from something inexpensive and close to the airport. I stayed 8 days and was totally satisfied. This isn't a fancy hotel, but the staff - especially Simone (front desk) was so helpful. I got around to the center of town most easily by taking the 22 bus which the stop was right by the hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there as this hotel, while not fancy, was affordable and the staff working there was most courteous. I would most definitely stay there again.
“It's cute and definitely good value for a short stay and for a place to sleep”
I chose this hotel after reading the reviews of others and since it was the first time in Florence for a quick stay, it seemed like a good choice. The reviews of others are very accurate. It says you can get to the hotel by foot, but definitely take the taxi, it's approx 12 euros mid afternoon and if you're flying out in the early morning it's 18 euros even though the ride seemed less than 8 minutes. (which reminds me, if you're flying out of Florence get to the airport 2 hours before your departure) Anyhow, back to the hotel, when I pulled up to the hotel I thought it was in a ghetto area, but then I realized it's just in very European neighbourhood, so if you're accustomed to hotels in North America then this will be a shock as will all hotels in Europe, in Europe everything is older. It was by far the best value. The single bed was... well small like a single bed but it was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and spoke english. The man named Gino at breakfast time was so sweet and adorable and it was nice having a nice expresso with a varitey of croissants. You have to pay for internet which was fairly cheap. It's definitely easy to get to downtown taking the 22 and it's nice to see the locals, breathe in Florence and realize you're in the home of Gucci. Oh, and you can buy a bus ticket at the hotel for approx 2 euro. This is a great hotel if you don't mind venturing off to get to the city. This is a great hotel if you want something close to the airport.
“Good Value Hotel Choice in Florence”
This hotel was a good choice for the price. Bus 22 takes you to and from your hotel to the main train station where you can use the hop on hop off bus to see all the best of Florence. The bus we were on took us to a town about 9km away from Florence called Fresole. It was a beautiful place to spend a few hours. Then you just hop on and see the other great sites. The Duomo is absolutely huge and a must see. Florence was our favourite spot in all of Italy because of how clean it was and the incredible art that you see throughout the city.
“Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast and clean rooms.”
This hotel is located on the outskirts of Florence, not far from the airport. Don't let the location put you off especially if you have a car. You can park very easily and use the regular bus service located a few yards away to travel in and out of Florence. There are a couple of restaurants nearby that serve the usual Italian fare at far more reasonable prices than the centre of the city. The location also makes it easy to drive to Pisa and Lucca, which are a one hour ride away. The staff were particularly helpful, the rooms were very clean and the breakfast, while continental, was a pretty good and plentiful buffet including Danish pastries, ham eggs, toast, yogurts, cereals, fruit, etc. So all in all, my family were pleased with the hotel and found it to be both convenient and good value.
“Near the airport”
We got exactly what we were looking for with this hotel. We wanted near the airport, 4:30 wake-up call, they arranged a 4:45 am taxi. The staff was very helpful. I was very pleased with the hotel for the cost! What you need to know is how to get to this hotel by bus. Thank goodness we were with my daughter who speaks Italian or I don't know that we ever would have gotten there. Buy a train ticket at the snack/newspaper counter in the train station. It was around 1.6 euro per person I believe. You have to catch the 22 bus going in the correct direction. the 22 bus that is right next to the train station goes the wrong direction. Walk out of the train station and continue to walk in the direction that the trains come in and out all the way across a courtyard area of grass to the first actual city street and that is where bus 22 picks you up in the correct direction. You then ride it all the way to the last stop and then you will walk about a block and a half to the Diva hotel. They can then tell you at the desk approximately how much the taxi will be to the airport - for us it was between 15 and 20 euro.
“You get what you pay for”
I was looking for some place near the Florence airport as it was my last night in Florence and I had a very early morning flight. And I didn't want to spend a lot of money since it was just one night and not even the entire night at that. So Diva Hotel fit the bill. I wouldn't have wanted to spend a week there, but for the one night it was good enough; very very basic, and the bed (a twin) was sort of hard and uncomfortable, but it was clean. That was the most important thing to me. The staff was very helpful as well, offering maps and directions, and they arranged for my taxi in the wee hours of the morning, and a wake-up call.
“Very convenient budget hotel in Florence but beware of noises in the night”
I chose this hotel as it was quite cheap and also quite convenient to get to the city centre. It turned out to be same. I could easily get to the hotel from bus and was able commute from there to city centre very easily. The staff was very friendly and could speak reasonable english and was helpful. The breakfast was nice too. Only one thing which I got quite annoyed about is noises in the night time. I could hear people laughing at he bar, even somone taking shower in a room nearby, even having sex. It was only one night though, the next day it was all quite. Perhaps it was room specific and I probably had the worse location room wise.
“A Room Without A View”
Although the hotel was about 20 minutes from the city centre, it was easily accessed by bus. The bus stop was a short walk from the hotel and the buses ran about every 15 minutes. Our room did not have a balcony and was at the back of the hotel with a view of the supermarket's car park roof but as we were out most of the time it did not really matter but you may want to sit on a balcony so ask before you book. The staff were all very helpful and obliging especially Stefania at reception and Simon in the breakfast lounge. The room was fairly basic but clean and towels were replaced each day if you required. Not many places to eat nearby but we did find a good restaurant a short walk past the bus stop to the main road to Florence. Great Pasta, pizzas and steaks. Buses run from city centre until after midnight so you could eat in city and still get back.
