“This Cannot Be a Four Star Hotel”
While the hotel has some good gathering areas on the first floor, including a pool table for guests, it lacks in many ways. The hallway and room carpets were not clean. The room was poorly appointed and in no way resembled the rooms shown in the pictures. The bathroom was minimal and unattractive. The toiletries were bottom grade. Breakfast was good and was a saving grace for this otherwise disappointing hotel.
“Cute hotel, not a good night's sleep”
We were very impressed with this boutique hotel's decor and service. The staff was very friendly and helpful in booking museum reservations and taxis. The breakfast provided was sufficient. The location was good. The only downside to this hotel was that it was very noisy as our room was located on the second floor and on the street side. There was always noisy traffic and people just outside the window and you could also hear every person that walked up the stairs located just outside the room. The double bed was two twin beds connected together and it was not very comfortable. Beware in booking this hotel if you're a light sleeper!
“Very Florence, not any hotel any where”
Really friendly helpful staff. The hotel is full of orginial art, antique furniture, very old photos, great photography portraits, an art deco bar, lovely originial ceilings. If you want to feel like you have stayed in Florence, rather than any other hotel which could be in any other city, this is the place for you. Fascinating, quirky, and beautiful.
“Nice enough”
I was undecided if I would recommend this hotel to others at first. I really liked the hotel itself, I thought it was cute with lots of hidden sitting areas but wasn't impressed with the room very much. The room was clean but just seemed a little tired, I was ready to pull up the carpeting myself. Also, the walls were a little thin, so we could hear the family next door. And since we were near the roof terrace, we could often smell cigarette smoke and as non-smokers, that wasn't pleasant. But really other than that, everything was clean, the staff was friendly and the hotel was within walking distance of everything and I would stay there again.
“Rat hole of a hotel!”
This hotel sucks!! Don't stay there unless you want to get "mites" like my husband did! He had to be treated by a doctor when we came back! The hotel is poorly maintained and old. The rooms are dirty and the plumbing either doesn't work or makes loud noises when the toilet is flushed! We requested another room but they were all the same. The staff never apologized or anything. The showers are super tiny which wouldn't be so bad if the tile wasn't all cracked, etc. The neighborhood is also sketchy and it was loud the whole night so we couldn't really ever open the window, though it was so thin we could hear everything anyway. The air conditioning was ok in our room but not good in one of the other rooms our party was in. The roof-top area could be cool but the cushions on the furniture were so dirty that we didn't really want to sit on them! Also, there was never anyone really running the bar in the hotel lounge so overall service was poor. Awful!!!
“charming hotel”
Florence is so beautiful and this hotel is so pretty and full of charm. We really enjoyed our stay here - you must check out the roof garden, it's awesome.
“Wonderful stay”
This hotel was just what I was expecting as an european boutique hotel. We enjoyed exploring the hotel finding a lot of small, nice lounges and a terrace with a beautiful view. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
“Loved this hotel!”
I loved my stay at the Cellai Hotel! The furnishings and artwork are beautiful and there's lots of atmosphere. My room was clean and comfy and I had a great night's sleep after trying to fit in as many sights as possible in the short time I had in Florence.Breakfast was really good too, lots of choice and excellent capuccino. Special thanks to the reception staff who were nice and friendly and gave me a few insider's tips on what to see and where to have a good evening meal in a local restaurant. I'll definitely recommend this hotel and would love to go back there myself.
“not impressed”
