“Like going back in time (in a good way)”
Our initial welcome was friendly and even indulged our poor attempts at Italian. From then on everything was as we hoped, the hotel itself seems as though it was sophisticated and elegant fifty or so years ago, has been let go a little bit in the intervening years, but is slowly getting there. The location is very handy for all the major tourist attractions, breakfast was very nice and relaxed, and the (seperate but in-house) retaurant was very intimate with good food. Would definitely go back there again.
“Very good service from a tired building. Would recomend”
Greeting and reception excellent. Room condition comfortable but very tired. The bidet drain plug stopped working and the bathroom light worked when it wanted to! Shortage of electrical plugs. About what you would expect for an old building. The breakfast was very good and the staff were first class, as was the bar man. The staff all spoke very good English and we would recomend the hotel.
“Very close to perfection”
Great location in an amazing city staff very friendly and helpful, some work needed on upgrading the facilities but This is understandable given the age of the fantastic building. I would definately return and recommend October as a ideal time to visit
“Great location”
This hotel looked fantastic when you walked into the lobby. When we got to our room the overall impression was that it was very nice, on closer inspection you start to see that the finish is not to a very high standard. The room was air conditioned which was a massive plus in the 33 degree heat. The roof terrace was the most impressive part of the hotel and we enjoyed drinks overlooking the beautiful view on a few occasions. Overall I would recommend this hotel but make sure you get a room at a reduced rate, I wouldn't have been happy if I'd paid the full rate.
“Good hotel in central location.”
All good, nice rooms, nice breakfast, not too expensive, helpful concierge and right in the centre of Florence.
“Ok, but have stayed at better!”
Staff very friendly. Hotel had the overall feel of 'shabby chic'. All it would take would be a coat of paint and a little bit of tlc. Rooms were really clean and location was fine. Top tip: Restaurant called Ciro just down the road is fab!
“Past sell by date”
Clean but dated in style. Shower leaked onto bathroom floor and out into the room. Although this was reported and a repair attempted, the cleaner subsequently broke the new sealant and so it leaked again. Wall light did not work. Air condtioning noisy and didnt cool the air. Asked for Iron @ Board and was told they were not allowed in the rooms so we would have to use the paid for laundry service which is only available duing the day. Coffee ran out at breakfast.
“Shabby hotel”
Hotel was badly in need of refurbishment throughout. Lighting was horrible. Hard to believe this was a four-star.
