“Functional .For a few days it's good .Staff very helpful.”

This is a decent hotel if all you want is to sleep and change there .It has very few amenities and no luxuries e.g the bar is dull ( and closed by the time we finished supper ) .No balcony .We spent our time 'out' .Great for a few days sightseeing but it would depress me to stay here longer .Food and breakfast service were OK but dull .BUT the people were great ! very helpful .I messed up and they retrieved brilliantly .They also allowed us to check out late to synchronise with our flight at no extra cost .

Area recommendations

The Petti Palace is great - wonderful collections and gardens - the Medici s lived there for a time .It is missed by most so there are fewer crowds . Because of the gardens you can easily spend a day there . Climb to the villa or Church for the breathtaking view across Florence . If you want to get out of the city the 'Cinque Terre' are a group of 5 beautiful small villages clinging to the cliffs above the sea - walk , boat or train - or any combination. They are well known so any decent concierge will arrange a trip for you

Getting there

We were told Florence airport is bad , but it was fine for us - you hear horror stories but we met regular travellers form there who said it was as god ( or bad ) as any other city airport .It is small but functional

Getting around

Walk everywhere in Florence - it's as quick as a taxi ! everything is easy to get to and find once you have your bearings

What to pack

good walking shoes .Comfortable cool loose clothes .It gets hot in summer and you will want to walk around this beautiful compact city . A decent backpack helps even if you are a city fan as you will want to take water/ hat /sunglasses etc.

The view over the city form any of the churches on the surrounding hills

“Close to train station”

Average hotel whose advantage is its location being close to the train station. Other than the train station, there is little else around with town being a 15 min walk away for restaurants cafes etc.

“Good quality hotel for good price”

Hotel was walking distance from train station, neighborhood not ideal but passable, at least surrounding restaurants were cheap. hotel itself was clean and neat. room good size. breakfast good.

“Appearance deceiving!”

This hotel really doesn't look much from outside but once you walk into the lobby it really is quite lovely. The rooms are a little small but very clean and comfortable with good efficient aircon which is a must in Florence in the summer. The hotel was a little far from The Ponte Vecchio but we needed car parking so were a little tied but overall very pleased with our experience. The breakfast is lovely and the waiters so pleasant and friendly as are the reception staff!

Area recommendations

You must go to Siena and Sam Gimignano - absolute jewels in the beautiful Tuscan countryside!!

“Great value in Florence”

Hotel Adriatico is centrally located, rooms are large, breakfast very complete and for its price, very good value. It is at walking distance (5-20 minutes) to all major sites in Florence. I would certainly come back to this hotel. Minor inconveniences: There is limited parking space so if you arrive late, you must park in a nearby Parking lot for 20 Euros per night, and they are not too flexible in allowing late check out. We had 3 rooms and tried to obtain late check out in one, but they would not allow. (My family did not want to leave Florence). Be warned that Florence does not allow driving within the city so you must register your car at the hotel to avoid a fine.

“Excellent accommodation and convenient location”

We have stayed in Best Western hotels in Italy before and this one met our previously good experiences. Our room was a good size for Italy, extremely clean and with good decor. We got our requested twin bedded, non smkoing room. The staff were all friendly, most spoke good english, especially the reception staff. The reception staff were also helpful about getting information for us about train travel from the internet. The breakfast buffet was good, plenty of choice. The hotel is only a 5 mintue walk from the train station (even with a suitcase) and only a few minutes walk to all the main sites of Florence. Overall we would highly recommend this hotel

Area recommendations

No one area - the whole of the centre of the city is crammed full of history and beautiful buildings!

September and October to avoid school/college trips and largeg cruise parties

“Good stay... May go back”

“Dont speak to the workers they do not want to talk”

Some of the workers there were extremely nice, while others were rude. A few of the associaties were unhelpful, and honesly we asked on average one question a day and they acted like we were stupid. Everything seemed very difficult for them. Also, every time we put the "do not disturb" sign on our door they always came in!!! Also the toilet did not work, but because they seemed like everything was our fault we did not tell them.

“Would Return and Recommend”

We very much enjoyed our stay and would visit here again (if we get the chance). The room was clean and inviting, with our only negative being a very hard bed. The breakfast was varied and adequate, with service a bit stiff, but not rude.

Traveller's tip

If you go, visit the pizzeria across the street (on the corner in the direction of the train station). We had a GREAT meal and service for a good price!
