“Convenient location”

The Hotel was so close to the railway Station on a relatively quiet street. It was so convenient to get to the main sights such as the Duomo and Piazza Della Signora. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room clean, spacious and comfortable. Only advice is to bring your own hairdryer, as the one provided in the bathroom was so hot. Would definitely go back.

“Beautiful Room”

Just a wonderful hotel. Fabulous decor in keeping with the old Florence theme but very new. I have never had so many towels given to me at a hotel before. The bedroom was a great size and the bathroom was lovely. The only negative was, the reception staff didn't really make you feel welcome which was the only down side to the hotel.

Area recommendations
I would say go on the Tuscany Tour with Becky from Walkabout Florence. Had a wonderful day seeing Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa as well as a winery lunch. Just lovely and great value for money.

“Alba Palace - A handy spot to explore Florence from”

Although not the most attractive exterior the Alba Palace yielded some surprises on the inside. The roofed courtyard that served as the breakfast room was light and airy, giving the impression of eating outdoors. Our room itself was right next to the lift and I feared the worst, but could hardly hear it at all! Only a ten minute walk from the Duomo makes this an excellent base for exploring the compact central areas of Florence. It was also ideally situated to reach the railway station and the starting point for the open top bus ours of the city.

Area recommendations
We saw most of the central areas: The Uffizi, Accademia, Duomo, Ponte Vecchio all within 15-20 minutes walk. Get to the markets, some good bargains to be had, especially leather goods with a wide choice.

“Good, clean and comfortable hotel”

We booked a 4 day trip to Florence along with three friends who had not been there before. The Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Every night they made a reservation at our chosen restaurant and subsequently booked the taxi for us which always arrived within 10 minutes. The staff were always very willing to assist us with information about how to get to certain locations and the best way to do this. The hotel has a small bar area which was extremely reasonable by hotel standards. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, adequately sleeping 3 people. The room was cleaned daily and when we requested additional pillows they were brought to the room. Room also had hairdryer, safe, toiletries and minibar. The only thing I would say is that if you stay here in the height of the summer, rooms to the front of the hotel may be noisy if you have to leave your windows open. Finally, the hotel is approximately 200 meters from St Maria Novella Train Station and very easily accessible on foot to central Florence. Tip: if you hire a car whilst in Florence, speak to Reception first. You cannot park the car closeby and the hotel have an agreement with a local garage who will collect and garage the car for you.

Area recommendations
No particular area. Just walk everywhere and see everything. It's a beautiful area to walk around.
Must see
Go up to the top of the Duomo. The views are breathtaking. Also go and see Michaelangelo's David - amazing.
Dining
We dined twice at The Napoleone Restaurant. Just tell the taxi driver the name and they will take you there. Fantastic food, excellent staff and lovely ambience.

“Clean Neat & friendly”

This was my first trip to Firenze and the hotel was extremely satisfying. Great friendly staffs to neat & efficient condition of the hotel room. This is no 5-star hotel but it's great for the friendly low cost/price. I'd gladly go back there again for my next trip to Firenze.

“Very Charming Hotel”

I chose the hotel because its overall ratings were very good. Raters consistently commented that the hotel staff was very friendly and courteous and the rooms were very nice. Alba Palace is an outstanding hotel. The entire hotel staff is wonderfully kind and the rooms are clean, beautifully decorated, and spacious. Its location near the train station makes it a great point for accessing various tourist venues. The continental breakfast is typical of most European hotels in that the selection is limited. Still, the cappuccino was superb. Overall, the experience was superior (especially for the reasonable price). I'd definitely stay there again.

“Great location”

Happy with the central location and closeness to train and bus terminal, but just far enough away to not hear the noise and have to cope with the traffic or people around the station. Service was very helpful in recommending places to see. Twin share room was small but as a bonus the bathroom was new and large, no bath. There is a great area with large wooden dining table off the breakfast area where you can sit and relax or use the internet or share a takeaway meal with others, will be booking it again if back in florence.

“Excellent location, hotel and staff - brilliant experience”

I took my mother there for her 60th birthday and had a wonderful fews days. During our stay we received excellent service from the hotel. The reception staff were polite, friendly and very helpful and even reserved places in a couple of galleries for us to avoid extensive queuing (I was almost 7 months pregnant at the time). Rooms were spotless and cleaning staff always there and busy and the continental breakfast was great value. The hotel itself is nice and and central to walk to all attractions which was very handy at the time. In short, we had an excellent stay and would rate this hotel and the staff very highly indeed.

“Will go back!”

My husband and I absolutely loved this hotel and would recommend it to any traveler. The location is fabulous, being a mild walk from the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and all sorts of incredible Florence shopping, and the rate was very reasonable. The room was small, compared to American standards, but that was to be expected and the renovations they've done to the original building (bathroom, new bed and other furniture) were extremely nice. The included breakfast was also wonderful with yogurt, pastries, meats and cheeses, coffee, and many other choices. The street can be a bit loud at night, but remember that this hotel is downtown Florence and some noise is unavoidable. That said, the windows and walls of the hotel itself are nicely noise-canceling. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. BUT, be warned! The pizzaria a few doors down (starts with a T?) on the hotel's side of the street was terrible! Don't waste a meal on it.

Area recommendations
My husband and I stayed in the city center for our entire 5 days in Florence. I'm sure there are plenty of other things to see in the city, but the historic center contained enough entertainment and sight-seeing opportunities for us to stay more than busy. If you're willing to do some walking, you can see all the sights without needing a taxi as long as you choose a hotel (such as the Alba) that is near most of the sights. Don't miss climbing the Duomo! But, as the books say, go early or late to avoid the incredible line. We went around 5:30pm and waited a bare 10 minutes before being admitted for our turn. Oh, and buy some chocolates at Gilli. They were amazing and you have to trust that a candy maker with more than 250 years of experience well knows what they're doing.
