“1950's Rte 66 Motel experience”
Allan & his wife are new owners (Oct of 2011) from Belgium, and they are working hard to make a classic Rte 66 motel a bit more comfortable. I booked it for me and my wife so we could experience what it was like in the 50's to stay at a motel on that famous route, and that is pretty much what we got. The room was clean and everything worked (the heater was a little tempermental, but Allan got it working in a few minutes. It is not a spacious as a newer facility, but we thought it had charm, and the owners could not have been nicer. Williams, AZ almost makes you feel that you are back in those more historic days - we dined that evening at a steak house (Rob's# that has been in business since 1946, and it was about a 3 block walk. The owners were very helpful with information about the Grand Canyon RR #2 blocks) and other attractions in the area. I would like to come back in a few years to see how they were able to complete their 'American Dream'.
“Fine for an overnight”
The Highlander has been well cared for, but is obviously a motel from an earlier era. It was fine for an overnight stay, but if you're planning on staying longer, you will want a more spacious room. It is convenient for walking through the downtown of Williams, and is easy to find off of Interstate 40.
“Realy worth to stay in, great for realy good price”
Me and my wife were real surprise. For this price from our experience are usually much less comfortable hotels but this one is very clean. Rooms and bathroom looked like new. Location also very good on historic route 66 about 1h from grand canyon. We enjoyed the town as well.
“Old, old, and very small. Not worth the $$ paid”
You are "captured" in Williams, AZ. Most travelers are going to the Grand Canyon. Therefore, the rates are high with no alternatives.
