I have booked at this hotel as it was the host hotel for San Francisco Marathon and it is close the start line of a race that starts so early! I really like the location, staff friendliness and breakfast options. I highly recommend it for those who wants to stay in SF proper and experience the best of the city- scenery, shopping, dining and proximity for running on the waterfront.
I stayed here last minute for the San Francisci Marathon. It was a little more than I had wanted to spend...BUT it was totally worth it! The staff was helpful, the restaurant next door (hotel accessable) had fabulous food, great beer and VERY fairly priced!! It mad my race experience a positive one.
We received tickets to the Giants game and decided to get out of the Sacramento heat. We had never been to the hotel before. What a pleasant surprise! The staff were ALL very pleasant and helpful-from check-in to check-out. The room was rather small but very well laid out-no wasted space and incredibly clean and well decorated. We walked to the game both there and back. There was a steady stream of people so we felt very safe. We were given solid and varied recommendations for food (lots of restaurants nearby). On Saturday the farmers market is also very close. Wine evenings, Set up for water, tea and coffee and tea in the morning. We especially like the 12:00 check-out which is their standard. We will come back
This hotel is ideally located close to all attractions. All staff within the hotel are friendly and go out of their way to assist and make you feel at home. I would definitely stay at the Hilton again when in San Franscisco.
I was here on business for a week. The Hotel is situated 4 blocks from the trans america building and at the edge of Chinatown. The other side of the street is little italy. The hotel is quiet and is well taken care of. The beds are a little hard. The only downside is that one block away is the heart of the strip clubs/ gentlemen s clubs. If you are into that then it won't bother you. You can walk different paths to avoid it. Fisherman's Wharf is a 20 min walk thru little italy. Lots of good restaurants around.

Pocket Guide: San Francisco Financial District - Ferry Building Hotels
The bulls and bears of industry tread the streets of the Financial District, home to the city’s tallest buildings, including the iconic Transmerica Pyramid. The towers give way to The Embarcadero, the broad, palm-lined avenue that begins at the San Francisco Giant’s AT&T Park and ends at Fisherman’s Wharf. The road passes by the Ferry Building, a landmark transformed into an artisanal food market.
