“Disappointed!”
Upon checking in, we realised we weren't told all the information after another guest came and told us that it would be cheaper to use 'meal vouchers' instead charging all meals to the room and that they charge to use the safe in the room. Even approaching reception, we realised others were given details much more in depth than we were. The inconsistency of the information staff were giving out was very apparent as many guests had different ideas of how much buffets cost etc. The night we arrived, it was pouring and we had to wait for our luggage for an hour after reminding them several times. Our air-conditioning was leaking and was causing us to slip every-time we entered the room! After MANY phone calls, a maintenance man came and emptied the hose of water, we filled buckets! The next day, we demanded we be moved as this was a safety hazard and escalated this to the duty manager. We checked the bill several times during our stay as they kept charging us when we'd already purchased meal vouchers and they couldn't seem to rectify the problem for days. Finally, after paying the bill, the receptionist questioned us about the vouchers after we'd been told it was settled. We also ordered a wake up call at 5am for our flight home and this was never made. When we notified them, they did not apologise. Overall, I would not stay here again, the food was poor and we had to wait for everything we were paying for. I would not stay here again. Staff don't know how to troubleshoot.
“Amazing staff”
Very beautiful surroundings, lovely staff who are very helpful, food excellent, very comfortable.
“happy holidays”
Sad start when we arrived in a monsoon but things got better very quickly. Resort is a little "tired" but very clean and well looked after. Not a place for excitement but perfect for winding down and flat out relaxing. Resort is kid friendly, so if you don't want kids around this is not the place for you. Plenty of quiet times as we had a beach bure well away from the crowd but close enough to join in for "Happy Hour"!!! Food was about what you would expect from a resort restaurant but the BBQ menu was excellent. Pool was clean and swim up bar was handy. Staff extremely helpful and happy. Don't forget this is Fiji so don't expect European quality amenities, just relax and get into doing things in "Fiji time" (slow).
“Sonasali Resort Fiji”
Sonasali has the look and general feel of a really nice resort but there are problems. A big negative was the bathrooms and plumbing. The plumbing lines do not have check values so you constantly hear clanging and banging when using any plumbing appliance. If a person is taking a shower and the toilet is flushed, then the person in the shower is scalded w/ hot water. There is a lot of air in the pipes so the water spits a lot. We checked in about 9 PM, ate, and then at 10:15 pm I went to take a shower. There was no hot water....no water at all coming from the hot side. They moved us to another room. That AC wasn't working properly. Room #3 finally worked. That hotel room was mostly clean except for dirt in the corners. There was also peeling paint on the doors, the shower had only one glass door panel where there had obviously been another, tiles were cracked and missing in the shower, all bathroom fixtures (faucets, etc.) were old and needed to be replaced. Sonasali is on an island and sometimes we had to wait for the ferry. That could be a pain. Big problem...the water around the resort is muddy brown. The beautiful blue water starts 1/2 mile or so off shore. A snorkeling excursion I took was very lax on safety. All instruction was given by a man ashore and he did not come w/ us. The man driving the boat was useless. We were on our own in the water. But the bed was great though!!! firm and comfortable...that makes up for alot. And the price was very good for the Nadi area.
“Best sunset view”
This hotel provided exactly what we needed for our holiday. The views from our room was great. The plantation restaurant provided great food. We enjoyed every moment. Thank You Sonaisali
“Good resort, but not much change on management...”
Second time in Sonaisali, no customers service at all, but resort very good for a relax holiday. The pool is great for kids and adult to swimng all day along. It will need to add more activities during the day.
“Fabulous staff, amazing food, wonderful hotel - perfect!!”
I had read some reviews for Sonaisali that were not too glowing, but after a week there I can say it is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and can not understand where these comments come from. Wonderful staff, always smiling, always wanting to help but happy to let you get on with your holiday as you want to. The food was great and so varied that you could never get bored - highly recommend the Lovo and degustation in the Plantation restaurant!! Stayed in the Spa Bure and worth every penny - sat in your own secluded spa, watching the sun set after a perfect Fiji day sipping some bubbles, what more could you want for a break from work??? Have never been to the same resort for a holiday in the past but may well consider this one. Johnny
“Overall Pretty Good”
First let me say that Sonaisali has a lot of things going for it. It has a fantastic ambience with the hotel restaurants and bar virtually surrounding the natural styled pool and central island on 3 sides. It's great for kids in terms of the kids menu, the kids club and the pool areas. I liked the fact that a lot of the activities were complimentary (kayaks, hobie cat, tennis, ping pong etc) However maintenance on some of the gear needs to be improved (only one Hobiecat in service and the pedal boats were all away being repaired) The staff were all great. Really friendly and genuine nice people. Where the Sonaisali lets itself down is in the area of restaurant service delivery and also room service...a 1 &1/2 hour wait on one occasion (my youngest fell asleep waiting for his meal) However management do appear to listen to constructive criticism so I'm confident that these things will be addessed sometime in the future. Would I go back? Well yes. No holiday is perfect and overall we had a really great time at Sonaisali.
“Very relaxed!”
We found this resort very low key and enjoyable. The decor in our spa bure was a little bit dated, but the room was a generous size and had everything necessary for comfort and relaxation. We also looked at one of the Very good view and better to ask for a bure on either end of the resort, if you like it very quiet and you don't mind a minute's walk to the restaurant and pool. It was very easy to organise activities or to do nothing. Family friendly without being overrun or crowded, even in school holiday time. Travel time from Nadi airport is short and simple. Food is quite good, but simple - seafood dishes were better than others.
“Burn Out Recovery”
This hotel is really a great place to get away from it all, enjoy the beautiful sunsets and relax and rejuvenate. But this hotel was hosting a huge Aussie middle school rugby team of roudy teens when we arrived, so the staff was rather burnt out. And the boys did not respect when we were eating at the pool side restaurant because they would be playing tag and splashing the people at the tables. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to the hotel on a taxi and that costs about $38Fijian one-way. The water around the hotel is too murky to do any snorkeling but the water is calm for swimming in. The rooms we stayed in were newly renovated but other parts of the hotel are quite tired. Customer service was limited and slow. They lost our boarding passes which we had faxed to the hotel so we almost missed our plane in the end. The food was OK too and prices average. We booked a spa and enjoyed that but the jacuzzi part was canceled due to a problem with hot water.
