“A Class Hotel”

This beautiful, modern hotel is located on the lake shore right next door to the Presidential Palace. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with walking and jogging trails. The modern architecture of this structure is impressive. The rooms are clean, neat and modern. The only disadvantage is that it's location is about 10 minutes away from the city center, requiring a cab ride to everything including restaurants unless you eat at the hotel's buffet restaurants. But if you want to stay in a quiet location and beautiful setting, it's worth the inconvenience. One point of confusion - there are two hotels within this complex. The cab drivers will take you to the Blue Tree Alvorada lobby, and this hotel's lobby is on the opposite side of the courtyard.

“Modern Chic in Brasilia”

The Golden Tulip had incredible rooms--a euro-modern aesthetic with many extras. We never heard a sound and with the thick blackout drapes the room was perfect after our long flights. The grounds are beautiful and it sits right on the lake. However, it is a real compound and a taxi or car is a necessity if you want to eat outside of the hotel's basic restaurants. The pool was amazing. A full breakfast buffet was included that was really upscale, also. Staff was friendly and spoke a wee bit of English.

Area recommendations

The downtown zone with a number of hotels is a better fit for most travellers interested and walking through the Nation's capital. If you want an upscale pampering, stick with the Golden Tulip.
