My wife and I stayed at the Santa Maria September 2014. Received a room upgrade on arrival at no extra charge, the reason given was that we were staying for seven days and this was considered to be a long stay. We didn't understand this at the time until we saw the number of visitors arriving and departing by several coachloads daily.
Our room was above the front of the hotel and had a view of The Basilica of Our Lady which is illuminated at night.
The Santa Maria is very close to the Sanctuary, very convenient since we spent so much time walking to and from the Sanctuary and visiting other places.
It is not the Ritz, so if you are looking for a plush hotel, it is not it, but if you are on pilgrimage to Fatima, you will love it. It is quiet, it has a beautiful chapel, and they celebrate Mass once a day. There is a carmelite community that lives there as well. You don't really see them, but you will hear them sing during the service. The staff is extremely helpfull!
They have free wifi in the lobby but it is painfully slow, I loved it! Good enough to check a couple of emails, and that is all!
Fatima can be experienced in half a day, go visit Batalha, or Tomar, preferably both! There is a very rich templar history in the area.
Portuguese food is delicious, and very affordable! The people were courteous and friendly!

The hotel was very good. I have only one remark. I had spent the night on the plane Miami-Lisbon, and drove 90 minutes up to Fatima. My wife and I arrived at the hotel around 11:30 am, and were told that the room would only be available at 2 pm. I felt a little uncomfortable. But in general the hotel is very nice.

Our stay at Hotel Fatima was a pleasant surprise. We had read that all accommodations in Fatima were small and modest. Our room was quite large and comfortable. Excellent location right beside the sanctuary, easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The hotel staff, especially those in the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming.
