“What a Treasure!”

We loved this place for so many reasons. Here are a few: * The location is breathtaking. Laying in bed and watching the ships in the harbor only feet away beats any TV show. * The two hostesses, Diane and Ecco, are equally welcoming and enjoyable to connect with (btw Ecco is a Golden Retriever) * The house is beautiful and extremely well cared for. The bed was very comfortable and everything was super clean. * The breakfast was gourmet and lovingly presented. In all this was one of the best B&B experiences for us and hope to return and spend more time there. If you are looking for a quaint, quiet and personal place to stay you will be pleasantly surprised. Tom & Bianca K.

“Baggins End is THE place to stay in the New Bedford area.”

Highly recommend it. The view is great and the owner is a most interesting person. If ever we go back to Fairhaven or need a place to stay in the area, it will be at Baggins End.

Area recommendations
The various museums and other places of interest in New Bedford. Phoenix park in Fairhaven.
Must see
The Whaleing Museum. I would avoid the pedestrian walkover to the waterford and cross to the waterfront at Union Street. Also, if you want to take the tour of the bay, call ahead as the 2 and 4 PM tours are booked by person on cruise ships.

“"Plan to Return"”

We were delighted with our stay at Baggin's End. Our room, overlooking the water and a confortable chair invited an afternoon read. With books and music available, we felt quite a home. The "shared bath" was not a problem. Breakfast was substantial for the the advertised "continental." We were welcomed by the Owner and enjoyed Ecco, the welcoming Lab. Baggin's End will be our choice when we return to the area again.

Area recommendations
Close to New Bedford across the river. Much to see at the Whaling Museum in New Bedford. We dined at Davy's Locker, a good choice for seafood.

“Can't wait to go back in cooler weather”

Absolutely beautiful. Can't say enough about how beautiful the guest house was and the location. The view was incredible and I will definitely go back in the cooler weather because the only thing missing was a/c.

“New Bedford, Mass Trip”

It was very comfortable and quiet, slept well, ate well and great host Diane and assistant host Ecco (Golden Retriever). High ratings - would definitely stay there again.

“Great B&B value. Very enjoyable stay.”

Very nice, homey feel; well appointed with exceptional hospitality. You can sit out on the patio or lawn or walk the boat dock and enjoy the waterfront property. We will definitely return when we visit the area again. Diane and her dog "Ecco" are terrific hosts. The shared bath is a very minor distraction from the overall experience.

Traveller's tip
There are many interesting places to see and things to do in the New Bedford area. Don't miss the Whaling Museum.

“Baggin End is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!”

My recent stays (I went back for the second week of my business travels) were absolutely wonderful. Diane, the inn keeper, is a delight and really makes the place feel like a home away from home. My bed was soft and cozy with a skylight that opened up to allow fresh air to pour in while I slept. The bath was always stocked with fresh linens and she provides terry cloth robes, of course. The breakfast...let's just say it's not like any other continental breakfast you'll find in the area. You MUST try the mini quiches. I was even provided a travel mug each morning on my way out the door filled with freshly made coffee! Diane really does not miss a detail! The Inn itself is situated on a little cove with a patio, dock, and direct access to the water. I watched several gorgeous sunsets! During my stay at Baggins End, I enjoyed a birthday party for Echo (the resident Golden Reetriever), wine and cheese on the patio while watching a brilliant red and orange sunset, and a lobster dinner! There's really no end to how much you can do at Baggin End with Diane's help. I cannot wait to go visit again and would recommend this spot to anyone for business or pleasure. Although, honestly, as far as business goes...let's just say...my coworkers who stayed at another hotel not to be named....were quite jealous of how relaxed and refreshed I was every morning! You might forget you're even working! (ssshhh, don't tell)

“True New England”

I was traveling on business and decided to stay here because of the price. I had never stayed at a B&B before, but will do so now. This was truly a great experience and now I know exactly where I want to stay when I take my wife on New England vacation. Diane (the owner) and Ecco (her Golden Retriever) were excellent hosts - helpful without being overbearing. Breakfast was superb and the views of the bay are awesome. I highly recommend staying at Baggins End Guest House.

Traveller's tip
There's no USA Today, but who cares? This was my first stay at a B&B and I travel a fair amount of the time. I will now be looking to book rooms at B&B's when traveling for business and pleasure. Give it a try.
