Superb hotel, but our additional wishes would be:
a) for the hotel (or Expedia) to set up transfer arrangements for its guests to and from the Athens airport as public transport connnections are complex and time-consuming (you have to change two buses and board a ferry and the journey from the hotel to the airport takes 5 hours, if you are lucky!). The hotel reception quoted euros 220 for a taxi direct to the airport - clearly the local taxi mafia is milking it! The hotel currently offers free transfer but only to those guests who buy some therapy packages at their spa at the cost of more than 2000 euros.
b) for the hotel to set up an excursions/trips desk, because the town of Loutra Edipsou is not foreign tourist orientated and finding organised trips even to the closest beauty spots can prove to be a challenge, even if one speaks fluent Greek, like I do. A taxi driver quoted 50 euros to take us to a place 15 minutes away from the town. That's not a good deal in my book, for the traveller that is!
c) please please ask the hotel to remove a reference to tennis facilities from their web-site. That is a misrepresentation because there is not a single tennis court in the town. The nearest is allegedly in a neighbouring town which is 40 minutes by foot. Not even a tennis fanatic like me was ready to make that kind of a journey to play an hour of tennis.
d) troops of mosquitos can eat you alive in your room in the evening. The hotel must do something about this.

The first impression was not good since we were given room appropriate for persons having special needs, wheel chair etc. That room was not that booked by us, so we insisted for change, however the change happened the next day and after a lot of pressure, since the main argumentation from hotel staff was that the room was a baby-friendly room!!
The next day we were transfered in the room category we had booked.
Staff very friendly and pleasent. We were expecting better food, given the cost of the accommodation is high.
The beach was good, however the windy weather along with waves make swimming for children a not so easy task, lot of attention is needed.

My wife and I stayed here for a four-day weekend and had a wonderful time. The room was very nice and the breakfast buffet had lots of choices.
The first night we were there we found out there was a wedding reception there! Oh no! We've stayed in other hotels where there were similar events and didn't get much sleep that night. But here at the Negroponte we didn't hear a thing, even though we were just one floor up from the ground floor.
We enjoyed the fitness center and the indoor pool too. We tried to use the sauna, which was still hot from the previous users, but one of the staff scolded us for not knowing that it costs 10 euros an hour. How were we supposed to know this with no signs about it? "From the web site!" was the response. Hmmm.
If that was our only negative experience in four days, we don't have anything to complain about.
