“Eureka Travelodge - outdated and tired.......”

We toured the northwest coast which was great but stopping off in Eureka to sleep when driving from San Francisco to oregon. I've stayed in many Travelodges before when on the road and these were all well looked after and in good condition. Eureka Travelodge is BAD. Thin walls means you can ear neighbors TV and conversation. We moved to a room that was quiet but still the decor is disgusting and everything is old and tired. This place needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Eureka itself is a horrible place too...... There's nothing there and there are lots of weird looking characters hanging around at night. Don't walk around there at night on your own!

“Not impresses”

We were passing through Eureka on a road trip through the Redwoods. The motel (Eureka Travelodge) was listed as a 2 star hotel with a swimming pool, complimentary breakfast and with an internet connection. The pool was shutdown upon arrival and appeared to have been unusable for a very long time. The complimentary breakfast was cheap, stale boxed donuts and the internet connection was not working in our room. I would rate the motel as 1/2 star at best. It was a very run down and worn out motel. We booked 2 queens but "slept" on 2 full size beds. The bathroom facilities were well worn with rusted fixtures. The room was small and sparse with worn out furniture and mattresses were very used and soft. The room hadn't been painted in years. A night in our car would have been a better option. On the positive side, the hotel owner was very pleasant but clearly had not spent any money to update the motel since the 50's. The "sleepy bear" curtains supplied as furnishings were unforgettable.

“dead fish smell and midnight calls”

I would not recommend this hotel! The parking area smelled like dead fish and was inconvenient for second floor rooms. The staff was surly, the pool and air conditioner were out of service ("too cold"). We received a phone call from the front desk at midnight (our window was open to vent our boiling hot room). The hotel was also very noisy. Better to stay elsewhere!

The only good thing about this place is the price. Everything else needs to be scrubbed, replaced, or updated.

“This place is a DUMP!!!!!!!!!”

This place is a Dump with a capital D. The people were extremely rude we got there at 1:30 am and had to ring a bell and wait for them to wake up. When we got to the room it was very smelly and very OLD and moldy smelling, the drawers fell out when I tried to look for a phone book to call another hotel to stay at, they looked like they got them off the side of the road. The heater if you could call it that was rusty and didn't appear to work. The beds were supposed to be queen beds and were doubles. When I called Expedia and told them that I was not going to stay in this DUMP, I was told that I would have to get the owners to agree to refund the money, well they agreed to refund the second nights money and not the first, we stayed in this room at most a half an hour while I tried to work out the refund and was charged for the two rooms that I had booked. The owners came to the room and told us to get out of the room, which we were going to, we were only in there calling a cab and still talking on the phone with Expedia. The people on Expedia were very nice and remained calm with me while I was very upset. They worked with me and got me the only refund that they could, my problem was with the hotel owners. Don't be fooled by the pictures, they must be of one room that was remodeled just for the Expedia site. Don't stay at this place!!! I booked this hotel because of the rating and the pictures, what a fool I was, you live and you learn.

“Great for the Area”

This is a pretty run of the mill mid-low range hotel. Surprisingly, well maintained and spacious given the type of chain. Easy to access off the highway and relatively quiet. Close to several nightlife venues.

“Courteous and comfortable stay, defiinately would stay again”

The staff here was awesome. soooooo nice! The room was kept up per the price of the stay - it wasn't the hilton but i can't afford the hilton so it was perfect! The continental breakfast provided a good selection for options. It was a good location for us for what we were there for. There was even a coop accross the street for our convenience. the pool didn't look so great but we weren't planning on swimming anyway. I also noticed that if I saw someone throw a cig butt on the ground it was gone in a couple of hours - very clean! I would recommend this stay for those looking for nice for a good price that won't break the bank.
