Solo Weekend Break

Posted 21-May-2014 on Hotels.com
I went away on my own after a stressful week. The location and spa facilities appealed to me. Also the grounds looked peaceful and a good place to chill out. This hotel is predominantly used by golfers and gym/golf members but I felt totally at home having a solo break (I m not a golfer). My room was large and very clean, I used the pool daily and also had a couple of spa treatments. These were of an excellent standard and the beauticians wonderfully gracious and sweet. I found the food delicious and of a high calibre -just my kind of thing. I spent hours reading and walking around the enormous sculptured golf course. Every member of staff that I met smiled and said hello. They were so friendly but not at all overbearing. I was very impressed and will certainly go again.

Would stay here again

No phone reception in the hotel (on 3 and EE). Gym was great, one of the best Ive used at a hotel. The Bar staff was really friendly and the prices was reasonable. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

A grest place to stay to explore Constable Country

Posted 29-Apr-2014 on Hotels.com
I went with my husband and twin girls aged 12. There was a warm welcome on arrival at Reception with staff always at hand to help. Close proximity to Lavenham made it a good place to stay. The Club House restaurant had a good breakfast option - reasonably priced. Lots of walks nearby. Watch out for golf balls though! We really enjoyed our experience at this hotel.

Family weekend away

Posted 27-Apr-2014
Pros: This Hotel was excellent value for money and the standard was at an extremely good level to the price paid.
Cons: With children a flexible approach to the use of pool would be good. Also maybe a play area inside and/or out would be great as there nothing nearby
Location: Whilst away we visited Colchester zoo which was about 30 minutes drive away. There was no information within the hotel about any local attractions
After the recent death of my mother our family wanted to escape for a few days. The Hotel was located in a quiet area with the nearest town around 8 miles away. The Staff were extremely polite and went out of their way to assist us with supplying our two small children 2years and baby of 7months with their necessary requirements such as food as there was not a special menu for children. The catering was excellent, although a little expensive for family trip. As a vegetarian the hotel provided options for all meals and with many options for breakfast. We spent some time in the hotel using the swimming pool although we were disappointed as the times for children were restricted and timing wasn't great for the age of our children as they were close to meal times and bed time. The room was spacious, clean and well maintained.

Our only issue was that the air conditioning system / heating did not work but this was fixed the next day It is pretty isolated but I think that you would know it when you booked and it is in beautiful surrounding. Lots of places to visit if you have a car

Lovely place to stay

Posted 21-Apr-2014
Pros: Spacious, great facilities and lovely area.
Cons: A bit of an update in decor in some areas, but this is already being done.
We booked for a last minute Easter weekend night away for myself, husband and two children (aged 14 and 11). It was excellent value for a family room, which was really spacious with a view of the golf course. The room had 2 double beds and plenty of room for us all - only downside was that they prepped it for 2 guests rather than 4, but as we were only there for a night it didn't really matter. It was extremely clean and well kept, if a little dated decor wise. The TV also had limited channels, but again for one night it was fine. Our stay included full use of the spa facilities and we spent a lovely afternoon in the pool, steam, sauna and jacuzzi. Children are allowed in the facilities between 5 - 7pm and again in the morning (9am - 10am I think). There are lovely loungers around the pool and all the spa facilities are close at hand. I also had a treatment and the prices are very competitive. We didn't eat in the hotel, but went out to a nearby pub in Nayland, which was excellent. Overall the hotel is in a lovely area and has great facilities for a family night away. They are currently being refurbished and the reception area was looking really nice. I presume some of the more tired corridor areas will eventually get done.
