“No more than basic”

No atmosphere in either Lobby, Bar or Restaurant. Absolutely miserable. Lobby was filthy when I arrived early evening, and even filthier when I left at 6.00 in the morning. Staff lazy. Complimentary coffee table was a disaster. 4 star, not even close.. Stay at Radisson or in town and get a taxi

“Too noisy to sleep!”

Stayed at this property as we had an early flight out of Stansted and hoped for a restful night to make the early start less unsettling for my 3 year old daughter. The staff were great, courteous, helpful and attentive but the rooms are small, and showing signs of heavy usage and generally did not feel clean or well maintained. Dinner in the restaurant was okay, quality of food (from a la carte menu) was good, extremely helpful staff again arranged a child's portion of fish and chips for my daughter which was not on the menu. However it was significantly overpriced. Presumably standard Hilton pricing but ridiculous, £17 for a chicken tikka masala that is undoubtedly a boil in the bag creation rather than freshly prepared to order is galling. Which brings me onto my final and most significant issue. The room was so noisy it was impossible to sleep. At our request reception arranged another room without delay (again staff were helpful and courteous), we duly moved only to discover the issue was not the room itself but the ventilation system in the corridors outside the room. A constant low rumbling vibrating noise made it virtually impossible to sleep and destroyed any notion of the restful night we had hoped for. We stayed on the third floor.

“Good Hotel for travellers staying overnight.”

Very satsified with the service. Staff was extremely helpful. Anything we needed they helped and were very prompt. Dining was awesome. Good Food and EXECELLENT dining staff. Would definitely stay again.

“Great retreat after long flight”

I arrived at the hotel after a 12 hour flight from Kuala Lumpur. It is located near the airport and has a convenient shuttle bus to and from the hotel. They provided a quick check-in and the room was spotless and extremely comfortable. The morning breakfast buffet is a joy with a wide range of options and wonderfully welcoming staff. If the hotel had been closer to central London I would have used it for my entire stay.

“How can this be a Hilton Hotel?!”

The first impression was simply very dirty and in dire need of renovation. The first thing I saw was the incredibly dirty footmat as we entered. They were paiting something on the wall over the reception in the middle of the day. All the (carpet) floors were extremly worn off and dirty. The mattresses in the rooms were of poor quality as well and squeaked when you sat on it. Because of a back problem we asked for another mattress and got to know that they are all the same in this hotel. With some persistence we ended up with a mattress from an extra bed, which was a little better. The staff was very nice and ready to help though. The room itself was quite dirty too. The armchairs had not been hoovered in years and you could find skin and other dirt on it, same with the windowsill and the (Carpet) floor. I had a look at another room on the ground floor, there the bathroom was all mouldy. Conclusion: We would never stay there again and we can surely not recommend it despite the rather nice staff.

“Perfect start to a holiday.”

I booked to stay here in April 2011 as I had an early flight the following morning... the hotel was easy to find, and my check in was smooth with minimal fuss. My room, although a little small, was more than adequate, in excellent condition and had everything I needed for a comfortable and restful night's stay. Facilities in the hotel were also of a high standard - I received a very pleasant welcome at reception on check-in, the lobby/coffee bar was welcoming, airy and comfortable, and the main bar/restaurant was a soothing place to chill out with a drink or two before retiring for the night. In short, I enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing evening, followed by a good night's sleep - the ideal way to recharge one's batteries before an early-morning flight. I wasn't disappointed in any way by the Hilton Stansted, and would be happy to return for another overnight stay should the need arise.

“Great one nighter!”

Great staff and immaculate room.

Area recommendations

Beware of the information desk at Stansted Airport. We arrived about 10pm and we asked for the best and cheapest way to get to the hotel. They said that at that time of night we would have no choice but to catch a taxi. We paid 11 pounds to drive the short trip to the hotel from the airport. The hilton hotel shuttle bus that was and has been running for years could have taken us the same place for 2 pounds each. It runs til well after 1am. Beware the misinformation of the information desk at STANSTED!

“'"It had it all''”

This hotel was the crown in our holiday , the service was FANTASIC the room very CLEAN not small and the breakfast was the BEST I have ever had ! Colin ,Linda and Fiona made our stay so enjoyable. We shall recommend this Hotel highly location to airport great, I shall be back !
