“Charming hotel and location”
Great Hallingbury Manor is very charming and attractive. The rooms are modern and the bed is extremely comfortable. The shower is perhaps a bit too modern, with the water raining from the ceiling and no bathtub. The bar and restaurant was decent and the service people and front desk employees were very kind and helpful. My major complaint is the noise at night, at least in our room (24). The doors outside constantly open and slam closed, waking us fairly frequently. Also, we attempted to take a walk around the very adorable neighborhood, but the road is small making walking difficult among very fast moving cars.
“Take your ear plugs with you....”
The hotel itself is very nice. The only thing that lets it down is that the planes landing at stansted airport flying overhead......and I do mean overhead. Its obviously very noisey at these times but that is the only thing that lets the hotel down. hotel was clean and people very accommodating
“Poorly designed and very noisy rooms”
Externally the hotel was beautiful and the reception staff were efficient enough. The room, however, left a lot to be desired. The wardrobe couldn't be used because it was too close to the main door closing mechanism and so couldn't be opened properly. There was a flat screen TV mounted on the wall at the end of the bed and it stuck out into the very narrow space so that you banged into it when walking around the bed. The window was very poorly fitted and didn't close properly. As the hotel is under the flight path and our room (number 24) was sited right next to the housing for what I think must be the air conditioning units, it was far too noisy.
“Excellent value at Expedia rates”
Staying for 3 nights in January, the Expedia rate offered excellent value. The Hotel has period character and attractive grounds. It is situated under a flight path which, with limited air traffic, did not cause discomfort. However it is possible that closer to summer it might do so and I felt that my bedroom could have been better sound proofed. The staff are efficient although on one occasion standing water was left on my bedroom floor. My bedroom had been recently refurbished and I liked its modern styling. Cooked breakfasts were quite good. For me, the location was excellent, located close (by car or taxi) to the London Liverpool Street railway and by the Cambridge motorway.
“Will visit again”
Good service, though a bit remote and with no air-cond, very quiet, nicely decorated. costed 10 pounds and 15 mins to the airport. 6 or 7 pounds from Bishop Stroteford to the hotel! highly recommended.
“Vry nice hotel”
Extremely nice and very comfortable hotel, especially well located for Airport.
“Stansted Airport”
Despite being below the flight path you dont really notice it inside
“Would stay here Again”
We had no trouble at this hotel and the service was very good,
“Excellent Hotel - friendly staff”
The hotel was excellent with very friendly staff. Although the closeness of Stansted Airport does bring the planes in low the noise isnt obtrusive in the building. I would stay there again quite happily.
“Hallinghury”
Hi The hotel was really nice, and the staff were very nice too. It is very close the airport, and very easy to find. Unfortunately when we were there the air con in the room had been turned off. The staff explained that they were trying to make the hotel more eco friendly, but as a result the room was red hot. The hotel kindly allowed us some free drinks at the bar to cool off, but perhaps if we had known in advance, we would have made a different choice.
