Mid week stay

It is an impressive looking hotel. Had a great night in the car & restaurant. Efficient friendly staff Just thought the room was a tad on the small size for a double room

Down Hall

Posted 16-Nov-2014
Pros: It was large, comfortable and pleasant staff in beautiful English countryside.
Cons: Not a lot, everything was perfect.
Location: We arrived after dark and only stayed one night. The front entrance signage was difficult to see from the direction we travelled.
Lovely overnight stay in luxurious hotel with good facilities and pleasant helpful staff.

Little Piece of Heaven in Essex

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location! All staff very friendly and very helpful in a genuine way too! The hotel had everything that I needed and when I am next in the area I will not be staying anywhere else! If you are looking for a nice play to stay in a nice area, with nice staff, then this is it! I also thought the restaurant prices reasonable too, which is not normal for good hotels! The room was also superb with a lovely view over the front of the hotel. The bed was that comfy that I felt that I was at home sleeping in my own bed! What more can you ask for! Definitely one of the better hotels that I have stayed in!

A little tired

Posted 23-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Very grand as you drive up the driveway. We were on a special deal however, the receptionist seemed to know this and didn't ask if we needed any help with bags even though she had asked the previous guest. the room was clean and relatively comfortable however the bathroom was in need of a bit of a repaint as it looked tired and scruffy for the rating of the hotel.

Ok from the Outside

Posted 17-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
The Hotel looks great. This is where it ends unfortunately. The rooms are very tired and could do with some major investment (e.g the curtains were ripped, the bath showed stains, the shower head was fixed for people less that 5foot (I had to kneel down to have a shower), the walls are very thin etc etc). Breakfast was average but to be fair I did eat at the peak time. In addition, the food/drink is rather expensive so I decided to visit a local pub (Thatchers) which was great.

Wedding Mill

Posted 14-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Though the hotel was quite nice, it was set up more for weddings and business conferences than for a couples getaway. Our room was very large and recently redecorated, but they were having a 'Wedding Show' for prospective brides and most of the common sitting rooms were being used as display areas, so there was very little space for us to relax in any of the public areas.

In need of redecoration

Posted 30-Aug-2014
Pros: Staff were friendly, a lovely setting
Cons: The decor needs modernising
Location: Imperial war museum at Duxford nearby
On arrival a lovely looking hotel. Our room the decor was dated and wallpaper starting to peel. The grouting by the shower was black in places and the shower must have been fitted to suit a person of 5' tall where the shower head cannot be adjusted. Expensive in the bar

Nice Surprise

Posted 18-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
The room was really big and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was luxurious. However, the hotel bar was disappointing; uncomfortable furniture and small, although adjacent lounge areas were more opulent. Food and drinks were very expensive. Overall the Hall was a nice surprise.
