“Convenient location”

Hotel located right in the centre of Gelsenkirchen 200 yards from the Hauptbahnhof so all tram connections to the Ruhr on your doorstep but in a nice area. Also in the middle of the shopping centre although shops not much to shout about!!

Traveller's tip
We stayed there for the boxing so were there for a specific event, otherwise not much in the city. Veltins Arena was worth a visit though even though we lost to Portugal there!

“Super für S04 Heimspiele”

Guter Service an der Bar - auch noch zu später Stunde :-)

“Es reicht zum Gepäck abstellen”

An sich ein nettes Hotel. Nur leider ohne jeglichen Komfort. Hellhörig, dass man jeden Schritt der Zimmernachbarn oben und nebenan hört. Dazu ein Minifernseher, von dessen ich glaube 9 Programmen nur eines ansehbar war. Der Rest voller Bildstörungen. War für meinen Kurzaufenthalt von 2 Tagen nicht so wichtig, aber die Vorstellung dort länger bleiben zu müssen, wäre schon merkwürdig. Mein erstes Mal IC-Hotel, und mein letztes Mal.

“InterCity Hotel Gelsenkirchen”

Ho soggiornato per un solo giorno, in occasione di un incontro di calcio. L'Hotel è molto comodo, si raggiunge faacilmente sia via strada (si trova sulla Ringstrasse, un po' una nostra tangenziale diciamo), è situato a 200 metri dalla stazione, ha una fermata del tram a 100 mt e si trova proprio a ridosso del centro cittadino. Ottima l'accoglienza, ci sono stati offerti con il pacchetto anche i biglietti per utilizzare i mezzi di trasporto per 2 giorni. La sera c'è anche un piccolo locale bar dove si può trovare sia una birra che qualcosa da mangiare visto che in città alle 22:00 sembra che ci sia il coprifuoco. La colazione è molto abbondante, si trova di tutto. Dispone anche di alcuni tavoli in un patio all'esterno dell'albergo, in zona centro diciamo, chiaramente utilizzabili a seconda del meteo. Camere piccole, piuttosto semplici ma molto funzionali, dotate di ogni comfort. Unica lacuna mancano i canali via SAT europei, si vedono solo emittenti tedesche. Lo consiglio vivamente sia per lavoro che per viaggi di piacere.

Area recommendations
Il centro cittadino è piuttosto piccolo, si sviluppa praticamente in un corso molto lungo interrotto da una piazzetta prima di arrivare nel vero e proprio centro cittadino. Il corso è praticamente in mezzo ad una fila continua di negozi e centri commerciali, uno di fianco all'altro, intervallato da qualche locale e da alcuni ristoranti. Di storico non c'è granchè, nella piazza centrale si può ammirare la cattedrale, molto carina e ben conservata. Ottimo il servizio di trasposrto urbano, costituito da alcune linee di tram che nei pressi del "centro storico" scompare interrandosi completamente. Oltre il teatro, poco distante dal centro praticamente non c'è più nulla, solo palazzi ed abitazioni civili. Consiglio di visitare questo pese solo di passaggio, come tapp o al massimo per un solo giorno.

Consiglio in primavera o in estate, poi in inverno anche se non nevica moltissimo si rischia di trovare molto freddo.
Getting there
Dall'aereoporto più vicino di Dusseldorf c'è un collegamento con il treno che porta proprio in centro città, il viaggio dura circa 30 minuti e si è subito in centro. I biglietti si acquistano comodamente alla stazione dell'aereoporto.

“billig, zentral gelegen, sauber”

Alles ok, nur sind die Hälfte der Zimmer Raucherzimmer ! Erst nach 3-maligen Reklamieren haben wir ein Nichtraucher Zimmer erhalten.

“SCHALKE !!!”

Super Hotel, hier ist der S04-Fan aufgehoben !! Super Lage (direkt am Hauptbahnhof (Bummelzug ein MUSS :-), super nettes Pesonal (bei jedem Heimspiel mut Schalke-T-Shirt !!) Man ist dort einfach gut aufgehoben !!

“Fahrschein inklusive”

Wir hatten für eine Nacht gebucht, um uns den T-Home-Cup anzuschauen und nicht die Absicht, uns länger im Hotel aufzuhalten. Zum Übernachten ist es absolut ausreichend. Ältere Möbel, aber alles sauber, das Personal sehr nett. Parkplätze sind fast nicht vorhanden, aber 70 m weiter ist ein Parkplatz, der Abends und am Wochenende nichts kostet. Highlight war ein kostenloser Fahrschein des Verkehrsverbundes für die Dauer des Aufenthaltes!

Traveller's tip
Wer die Möglichkeit hat, sollte mal zum Centro Oberhausen fahren. Dort ist eine Art Fressmeile, Live-Musik und im Gasometer sind immer tolle Ausstellungen. Kostenlose Parkplätze.

“für kurze Aufenthalte sehr gut”

DAs Hotel ist direkt am Bahnhof und mit dem Auto auch sehr gut zu erreiche. Wir waren zwar nur eine Nacht können es aber weiteremphelen!!!
