We decided to find somewhere to stay as we had an early flight from Humberside and, with the forecast of snow, thought it would be better to stay somewhere local to the airport (approx 5 miles away). We received a very warm welcome when we arrived. The room was lovely (and warm!). The accommodation is separate to the 'pub' and was lovely and quiet. The church clock which you could hear striking when outside, you couldn't hear inside at all.
The food was delicious #we both had the fillet steak - although lots of choice on the menu using local produce# and the steaks were cooked exactly as requested #one blue and one medium rare#. Very reasonable price for food and drinks. An absolute gem and would certainly use again next time we are on an early morning flight. Great value for money!!!
This was a 60th birthday treat for my husband. We stayed two nights and we would have loved to have stayed longer. Beautiful, comfortable surroundings and the food is to die for! Each course of the tasting menu is like a miniature work of art.
Because they generally only offer a tasting menu (which is fantastic) we didn't want that two nights running. So chef put together a three-course menu for us on the second night. It was divine! We have eaten at several famous restaurants (Le Caprice, The Ivy etc) and Winteringham Fields compares very favourably. It was our first visit, but certainly won't be our last.
I have given this hotel 5 stars but it is not of course a 5 star hotel - it is a village pub with rooms and I have rated it against my expectation of what a village pub with rooms should be
Staff were excellent - very welcoming and friendly - couldn't do enough for us
Pub is a first rate village pub
Rooms are comfy and clean but could do with decorating
Biggest drawback is that rooms are not en-suite - shared toilet and bathroom
However I understand that they have plans to refurbish the rooms next year
An excellent hotel if you have reason to want to stay in Burton stather (we were there to attend a charity event)

From the moment we arrived, we were made comfortable. lovely atmosphere amd very friendly welcoming staff. the food was excellent. The room was extremely comfortable and everything you needed. We had a very good nights sleep as it was so quiet.
We would highly recommend The Black Horse Inn. A very high standard. Many thanks. Brian and Valerie Worley
