“It has potential, but...”

This hotel was close to Corning and we were able to get to the local attractions. It was adequate for an overnight stay, but I wouldn't want to spend much time there. The room was spacious, but not well appointed. It seemed dingy and there were crumpled leaves, pieces of candy and bottle caps on the rug.

“Not impressed at all”

While the staff was lovely and accomodating at Americas Best Value Inn in Painted Post New York, the room was below standards. For what I paid, I expected to get the non-smoking room that I requested. They gave me a smoking room. I went out and bought Ozium Spray. This didn't help. Our noses and throat and lungs burned from the smell of smoke in the room. There were moths in the soap and shampoo basket, and the hotel could have used some renovations as well as remodeling. Now, I politely brought my concerns to the manager at the front desk and she was lovely, understanding, courteous and I can't say enough. She discounted the room for me and my family and was understanding and apologetic. I only needed to politely explain my point of view. There weren't any harsh tones or words. They have an excellent staff.

Area recommendations
Our destination was Watkins Glen and the hike and beauty of the falls are amazing. I would recommend this gorgeous, breath-taking hike to all my friends. And for all the racing fans, they international raceway is there too. This was only a 30 minute ride from where we stayed.
When to go
The early fall would be the best. The leaves would be changing
Dining
Dining was fabulous at Tony R's. Expensive. a la carte. but truly worth it.

“Nice place to stay”

I recently stayed at this hotel and while it wasn't a 5 star hotel it was a pleasant hotel to stay in the area for a good value. It was conveniently located of the expressway and within minutes of a grocery store in Corning. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Geneva”

This was more of a truck stop, not a family motel.

“Quite the suprise...”

When I arrived, I realized the outside was very deceiving. Due to the weather, it seems as if the outside was not attended to. I have to admit, I was a little leary.. but I was greeted by very friendly front desk staff and went to my room. Although the hotel looked like it needed maintenance on the outside,, the inside was perfect! IT was clean, and the room temp was easy to control. The room was actually very big. Seemed silly for one person. I felt very safe there. It was very close to stores and restaurants.. and it was right off the highway.. which I did not hear at night. I stopped there so I could go to the Corning Glass Museum, but I will definitely keep it in mind if I ever need a place to hop into during my travels to and from Buffalo. In the back area, there is a pavillion and it appears you can sit out on a small little deck right outside your room. This would be very welcome in the warmer days of traveling. I do have to say, although I am not a big breakfast enthusiast, anyone who wants a hearty breakfast may have to jump in the car and head to the nearby restaurants. The hotel did provide bagels, muffins, cereal and toast. Coffee and juice were there as well. Just goes to show that you should not judge a place by the exterior. Brenda

“Hometown girl returns”

Grew up in the area, so when shopping for a hotel kinda' knew where I wanted to stay. I was pleasantly surprised to find the former 'Lodge on the Green' available for an extremely reasonable rate! The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet; no there wasn't a continental breakfast, nor a pool, but that's not what I wanted for my visit 'home'...and certainly was not worth an additional $25.00-$50.00/night that I would have paid elsewhere. I would strongly recommend this hotel to the traveling public!! A recommendation that I made to the hotel upon checkout...they need a lighted sign at their Dann Rd driveway entrance.

Area recommendations
This hotel is in a convenient location for people who wish to visit Corning Glass Museum, Rockwell Museum (early American art) or downtown Market Street (independent glass studios, outlets, and other specialty stores in a quaint restored setting) in Corning. Although approx. 2 miles away, hotel is a direct highway drive to Corning.

“A nice patch of green”

Staff was friendly and unassuming. While this hotel targets the budget traveler, my experience was wholly satisfying. The room was clean, spacious and well maintained. A plus is the large grassy knoll surrounding the pool. It was full of trees, well groomed and lucsious. I would definitely book this facility again.
