“Perfect Choice!”
Esplendor was everything we were looking for in a hotel (especially when your luggage doesn't arrive over a day later!) From other reviews, we were worried over the location, however, it was fine....just a short walk (6 mins. )from the main strip! Dinner in the hotel restaurant was my husband's favorite of our entire 10-day trip to Chile and Argentina!
“Explendor Hotel”
A short cab or walk to the center of town. On a hill overlooking the town gave some special vistas. Some dogs barking at night--not the hotel's fault--so they provided a fan which helped both the tempature and noise. This hotel is used by the organized tour groups. Very sufficient accomodations and internet access. Breakfast was very Argentinian--fruit, cereal, toast, etc. I would definitely stay there again.
“Underwhelmed front desk was moderately clueless.”
Facade was nice but when you looked close the hotel was falling apart. Chips everywhere.
“Beautiful and modern”
Exquisite and modern decor. Restaurant service and food quality not as expected.
“Very nice boutique hotel”
Very nice, new hotel. Service was very good. The rooms are big and nicely decorated. The view of the lake is great. Would go there again.
“Esplendor: Clean, modern, good breakfast, good staff”
We liked this very much. Nice avant garde design. The breakfast was excellent with good fresh fruit and the packed lunch was also good. Very friendly staff. Our only gripe was that we got into town on the back of the crowd from two planes landing and were given a room at the back of the hotel instead of one with the splendid lake and mountain views. Afterwards, they made little effort to comply with our wish to move to a front room as soon as one was available. We hardly spent any time at the hotel so this was not a big problem for us. There is a lot of climbing in and around this hotel so not so good for those who can't get around very well.
“Convenient Hotel”
Hotel is like a 10 min. walking distance to El Calafate's main street Libertador. And if you don't want to walk up the hill on your way back, to come back to the hotel is like 4 min. by taxi which is very cheap as well. We were satisfied with the hotel in terms of location, comfort etc. Room was very nicely decorated, comfortable, and had a lake view. However there is no AC in the rooms which is not convenient at all. There is also room for improvement in terms of the number of the staff in the afternoon / evening. One had to handle several tasks for all guest, which was not enough. Finally if you want to charge your phone etc, and need a converter, you need to register yourself to the queue!
“Best hotel in El Calafate!”
Amazing hotel, a few minutes from the city center but in a quite area up in the hill. Rooms are big and clean and very modern with great views of the lake. Hotel staff is helpful and nice, breakfast is great. I can only say good things about this hotel. Great value for the money.
“Great plac to stay”
This hotel is located on a hill overlooking the town and the lake, just a 5 to 10 min walk from the town's main street where all the shops and restaurants are located. The hotel is not terribly impressive from the outside, but on the inside it's modern and has character. The room itself was attractive and quite spacious. The bathroom, although fairly small, was well laid out and attractive. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and very appetizing and served up in a dining room with picture windows giving great views of the lake. We arrived at the hotel at around 9 am and were checked in right away by the very friendly and efficient staff at the front desk. For some people, the fact that the hotel is on a hill means that walking back to the hotel from the town involves walking up a fairly steep hill. However, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting El Calafate and would return to this hotel if I ever visited El Calafate again. It's also worth noting that we found the hotel to be gayfriendly.
“Best value hotel I've been to”
Very modern and well appointed hotel. Beautifully decorated room, except the lamps imitating deer horns made of plastic. Excellent buffet breakfast as well. Highly recommended hotel.
