“Great building. Lousy reception”

Reception disinterested in providing info, alternatively providing wrong info. Food expensive and without character. This spoils an otherwise great hotel and location with stunning views.

“Out of town”

Design Suites is a reasonable hotel with good views but is reached through some unfortunate surroundings with windblown rubbish lining the unmade up roads, Once there, the service is reasonable and the surroundings satisfactory. We didn't see anything much better in the town which is 20mins walk or a short taxi ride.

“Wonderful Patagonian Hotel”

Gorgeous hotel overlooking the Argentina Lake in Patagonia. We had the most amazing view. The staff was wonderful. The hotel was located far from the city center. There is a shuttle that the hotel provides, but this starts at 6:00pm, and runs one time each hour. Overall, I loved our hotel and would definitely recommend it.

Whilst reception was attentive and the structure and view stunning, the hotel is quite some distance from the town. We found that the room's maintenance was not good at all. Blown light bulbs, Toilet roll holders were loose and would not support the rolls. The plug top fell off the hair dryer. The water was smelly and brown. We filled the spa hoping to relax after a long journey, only to find the brown smelly water. We complained and got a shrug of shoulders, explanation-" The whole town is like it", not true. We ate in the restaurant the night of arrival. The meal whilst well presented, was minuscule. I had laundry service, four top class shirts worth US$2200 were returned ruined- shrunken. We were compensated for this in the final bill on check out without hassle. Breakfast, choices were limited and poorly presented, especially the hot section, which was cold! For an advertised 5 star hotel, I would give the building 5 Stars- the rest 3 Stars.

Design Suites Calafate was a great decision. From our arrival and the champagne toast to the great service we had day in and day out, I would recommend this hotel to anyone heading to see the beautiful Patagonia Glaciers! Great breakfast in the morning gets your energized for your day while workout facilities keep you going even when you are away from your gym and the pool and wet and dry saunas help you to relax after a fun-packed day.
