This hotel is a must if you're staying in Barcelona!
Even though it was the end of the season (Oct), the staff were friendly and informative (even though there were some very rude & surly residents who practically ignored them). The location is ideal for exploring the city. We preferred the 'quieter' suburb to the mania that surrounds La Rambla. We enjoyed a bottle of Cava on the rooftop terrace & this is where you can escape to relax after a busy day sightseeing. It was shaded from 5pm but still warm.
The El Born area around the hotel is great for evenings out. Restaurants are good (with outdoor seating) so no need to travel into central city for food.
Thank you to K&K Picasso for our wonderful stay. You deserve your high rating because your consistently high standards are few & far between.

Via Laietana runs through the centre of Barcelona and the hotel is within 2 minutes walking distance of Jaime 1 Metro station. Easily accessible from the airport via train and then transfer to metro.
Positives (lots of them)
Left out of the hotel and a few hundred yards up the road is the Cathedral. You can walk to La Rambla within 5-10 mins through some nice/safe side streets. From there you can walk to Plaza Catalunya at the top of La Rambla and then Plaza Espanyol within 45 mins. Al the key city centre toursist spots and bars are that close.
Turn right out of the hotel and within five mins you're at the Marina, another 5-10 mins and you've walked to the beach. Beautiful coast line with wide open spaces if you like the view but don't want to venture onto the beach. The beach runs for a couple of miles with plenty of quiet spots.
The Picasso gallery is a few minutes from the hotel (down one of the side streerts opposite it).
Dunnes Irish bar is next door (cheap food/drink with friendly staff and sport on TV. A small convenience store is also a few doors down the road.
Whilst it's a busy road the noise was never a problem (I had an inside room with no view of the main road - not sure if this would have been an issue with a room on the main street.
Negatives (very few)
Expedia advertised massages were available but this wasn't the case (my back needed one after a delayed flight)
Beds were quite hard and pillows too soft.
We loved the location of our hotel. It was part of a beautiful neighborhood with winding cobblestone streets lined with wonderful restaurants and shops. The hotel is a small boutique hotel with attentive staff and spacious clean, modern rooms. We upgraded to a room with a very small balcony, overlooking the street. We could hear We patrons at Elsa y Fred's, a lovely small gastropub across the street. We loved it so much that we ended each evening with a cocktail before turning in. The front desk staff spoke excellent English and provided maps, directions and suggestions for anything needed. With so many interesting restaurants and sites to see, we did not eat at the hotel restaurant and we did not stay at the rooftop pool. We went to the rooftop to check out the view. There wasn't much to see from the roof but we weren't disappointed. There was so much beautiful architecture to see just from wandering through the neighborhood.
