“Quick stay at the Edmonton South Ramada”

Hotel is under construction, but it is not an inconvience to the guests. I did not use the pool or the restaurant, but he hotel was clean and modern, and the staff was friendly. It was an uneventful stay, which I am more than happy with.

“Definitely would return”

If I ever find myself back in Edmonton, I will certainly look into this Ramada hotel. The hotel is completely smoke and pet free. The receptionist was wonderful, the room was clean and bright. The room had a microwave and fridge as promised. Lots of places to eat within walking distance as well as a grocery store. Laundry facilities were clean and reasonably priced. The pool was not available to us, but we didn't care because we went to the water park at the Edmonton mall. The elevators have not been remodelled yet. Don't let that fool you. d

Area recommendations

When you come from a large city in Ontario as we do the Edmonton mall is not that special with the exception of the water park and Galaxyland. We didn't do anything else in Edmonton.

“Good value for Edmonton stay”

I travel on business and this is my current 'favourite' hotel. The value is good, the place is clean, and although renos are still being done it doesn't impact on my stay. The Waterpark is out of order, but who cares. It is relatively quiet, clean, with helpful staff. I do know the rates of every hotel on the strip, and in my mind for a commercial traveler it provides the best overall value. The restaurant is acceptable and opens at 6:30 which is important to me.

“very nice and clean rooms, will definetly go again in my next trip”

the Ramada hotel south was a very good choice for the perpose i went to Edmonton for in the firstplace and that is to take a professional exam. very clean and nice room, great clean bath and nice workers.. it helped me a lot sleep and have a comfortable stay to e ready for my exam.. i do recommendit for bussiness and otherwise purposes..

“Better than staying with family”

I was happy with our stay here. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. There was some noise from other guests at 2am but not all night. Was not expecting 4 stars but I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Will book it again if I can get a good price.

“Solid value in city of Edmonton”

I stay in Edmonton every month, and the 3 hotels I rotate around have all hit me with $30 increases. This hotel used to be the Riviera years ago and was pretty run down. I decided to give it a shot, and the rooms are nicely updated, spacious, and well appointed. The pool is closed during their reno but not a biggie to a commercial traveler. There is a Smitty's downstairs, with reasonable food and open early. The staff were all more than agreeable and helpful - and I mention that because for a road warrior that is becoming more scarce. Value for the money, this is my new hotel of record for that city. The only less expensive hotel on that strip (Gateway North) is the Travelodge a few blocks away, and this is a huge upgrade. The elevators haven't been upgraded yet, but don't judge the quality of the rooms by the appearance of the elevator. This Ramada hotel is the best value I have seen on the south side.

Area recommendations

Check out the Old Strathcona area which is 82nd Ave (also known as Whyte Ave). For a city of this size it has more live theatre than almost any other. Also close by is the Yardbird Suite Jazz Club which is an Edmonton institution. Lots of great restaurants. One of particular note and value is Dadeo (sp?) on Whyte Ave at approx. 106 St. The food is awesome, and the staff excellent (even though they all appear to be trying to outdo each other's tattoos). Cannot beat the lunch special. This is a unique single location restaurant that is known to the locals as one of the best eating spots in the entire city. We found it by luck, and now return every month when we are in the city.
