Spent 2 nights here, fantastic friendly yet very professional staff, lovely room even though quite small. Ate in The Pompadour restaurant on the first night. First class food, ambiance and staff. Will be returning soon..

Near the shops and castle

Posted 19-Jul-2014
Pros: The hotel is ideal place to go for luxury and to spoiled yourself.
Cons: The other thing is that missing is a bit more entertainment.
Location: On the main street with shops and 5 minutes from the train station.
Just outside the hotel it has a good view of the castle which can be a good choice to get a window view in the room. Close to the shops which is great and it is on the main street but there is another hotel with a similar name. Remember the full name of hotel otherwise the taxi driver might sent you to another hotel.

Good hotel choice at end of Princes St.

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Cons: The shower screen on the bath would not stay in place and needed to be held in place with towel. Water everywhere after shower.
Overall we were pleased with this hotel. The staff were all polite and efficient. Room was typical of Waldorf Astoria establishments.

Lovely central hotel

Posted 29-Jun-2014
Pros: Nice room in general, good central location, nice in house brasserie and room service
Cons: The shower in our bathroom was lovely but I would have liked a bath as well.
Lovely hotel with good facilities, friendly staff and some nice rooms.

Poor Expedia / Hotel Communications, embarrassing

Posted 09-Jun-2014
Pros: The atmospherics and decor of this grand hotel reminded us of the Jack Nickelson film, The Shinning......."here's Jonny" !
Cons: Clearly, communication between Expedia and hotel must be addressed as a matter of urgency We (all customers) must also have explanation.
Location: Excellent location for all things related to Auld Reekie or just to soak in the experience of this unique hotel.
Despite paying Expedia up front the Waldorf (Edinburgh) staff said they did not have the payment from Expedia. After 20 mins of protracted debate we were able to locate the confirmation on our iPad. Even then there was more delay before this was finally accepted. The payment demanded from Hotel was at variance from that paid to Expedia but the Ts & Cs of this review do not allow us explain further. A very disappointing end to what had been a carefully chosen hotel for a celebratory event. Some learning opportunities for Expedia but the least we should expect is an explanation from the Agent (Expedia)..... (and an apology).

Posted 09-Jun-2014
Very nice hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful with planning tours. Ac didn't work one night and they switched the room for us instantly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay at this hotel next time. Convenient to tours, royal mile and restaurants.

Lovely hotel in centre of City

Posted 29-May-2014
Pros: Location & friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Breakfast.
Location: Tour city, visit castle, just enjoy the whole atmosphere.
Received a warm welcome, staff always friendly and most helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Peacock Alley was really Impressive, enjoyed the casual dining, but overall breakfast was a little disappointing. Would stay again.
