Elegant hotel in fantastic location

Posted 26-May-2015
Fantastic location, lovely rooms, great food and helpful, friendly staff. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived but we were given a complimentary drink in the Caley Bar and informed by text a short time later when it was ready. It's definitely worth booking a room with a view. Ours was a corner room with amazing views of Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, Calton Hill and Princes Street.

Favorite place to stay in Edinburgh

Posted 26-May-2015
Stayed at this hotel and one other similarly rated during my stay. The Caledonian was hands down the best. The staff was wonderful and attententive. The hotel itself was lovely and could not be in a better location. Will definitely stay at this hotel again!

An expensive mistake.

Posted 25-May-2015
This could be a great hotel. We needed to extend our stay by one day, and were assured on check-in that this would be accommodated. Three nights later, we found out no such accommodation was made, and we're told there were no rooms available. We looked online, and found many rooms available. Hotel staff were unable to explain the discrepancy. For a five star place, this is just not ok. We booked a very nice room at the Sheraton for 1/3rd less money, and had at least an equivalently luxurious experience. Don't waste your money on the WA Caledonian. The staff is all that separates this hotel from the four star a block away, and I'm afraid they either aren't able or enabled to live up to that distinction. Staying here was a waste of money. On a positive note, Edinburgh is awesome.

A Piece of Classic Edinburgh

Posted 21-May-2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: It is in the heart of Edinburgh so you are able to walk to most of the nearby shops, etc.
The hotel is very quaint and holds a great presence in its popular position in the heart of Edinburgh. The staff were very attentive and my very hectic two day business trip in Edinburgh was made all the easier for the one night stay at this hotel.

Stadthotel

Posted 19-May-2015
Location: Im Zentrum Edinburghs direkt in der haupteinkaufsstrasse. 10 Gehminuten vom Schloss entfernt.
Zentral in Edinburgh liegend.

Wonderful hotel, great location

Posted 11-May-2015
Pros: Really enjoyed the interior design of the lobby, restaurants/bars, and rooms
We really enjoyed our stay at the Waldorf Astoria both because of the hotel itself and its location within the city. We were in walking distance of the castle, shops, and some really great restaurants. Our room was clean, well-decorated, and very quiet. The staff was very helpful as well.

Excellent hotel central to city

Posted 10-May-2015
Pros: Comfortable, clean and quiet, staff had the up most respect for us throughout our stay. Service was very prompt and efficient throughout stay.
Cons: none
Location: Very central to city, various eating areas, open air bus trip advised as got to learn about the city's history and museums
Very friendly, professional and welcoming staff, evident they are happy within their work. Room clean plenty of room and quiet due to space between rooms and high ceilings. Lovely view across city. Foyer staff knowledgeable in regards to surrounding locations and how to get to them.

Great, much as expected - and more!

Posted 09-May-2015
Pros: Situation, rooms, views, staff - comfort of bedding - matresses great and wish we had as comfortable pillows at home!
Cons: More coffee creamers/milk left in room, it is all we drink and had to go out and buy more of both!
Location: St Cuthmans Church just down the road, most fantastic 'Tiffany' stained glass window, and lovely, peaceful cemetary, most interesting!
A birthday present for my husband, I had stayed at the Caledonian many years ago, he had not been to Edinborough before, I remembered it to be wonderful - and it certainly lived up to expectations! The staff were both helpful and friendly, our room, overlooking the Castle magnificient, it was very quiet and peaceful, room imaculate! Would like to have had a little more coffee/creamer than provided! Found Edinborough a lovely City - very clean, and extremely helpful people, we both had an unforgettable time - loved seeing the Zoo, (Pandas great) and visiting The Royal Yacht Britannia, all very memorable, all done on the bus, which is very easy to use! Lovely time, thankyou, will be back to see the things we missed!
