Nice place

Nice place , not very far from the center. Smoke smell in one of the rooms when we got there, but helpful staff sorted it out quickly.

5* hotel, 6* service. good location

Posted 22-Jul-2014
Pros: what is not to like?
Cons: some very minor décor and scuffs
Location: centre of Edinburgh. not too keen on the strip clubs around the corner, but no noise and no seedy/tacky nonsense visible
good hotel, excellent service... good to see it still exists!! Just around the cornet from the best breakfast café in Scotland. Would definitely book again

Great place to stay in Edinburgh

Great place to stay in Old Edinburgh - right off the grass market - apartment style rooms - Charlie and the staff are very helpful and pre-stock your kitchen - would definitely stay there again

Wonderful ammenities

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: The staff was kind, helpful, and professional. The location was terrific, next to sights and groceries (and awful, next to 2 bars).
Cons: If you are staying on a Friday or Saturday night and you reserved a 1 bedroom apartment, I'd recommend bringing ear plugs.
Location: Museums, restaurants, pubs, cheese shop, bookstores, groceries.
We were in Edinburgh for a short holiday. After a long flight from the U.S., the staff couldn't have been more welcoming! The apartment was quite clean and had everything we could want and more. The groceries were a wonderful addition and with the prices being so much higher for food than America, it was so helpful to have a grocery store just a 3 minute walk from the hotel front door. The 5 minute walk to Grassmarket was easy down, but uphill back and had great restaurants and a wonderful cheese market right next to "Oink"--a small place that sells inexpensive sandwiches made with fresh, roasted, pork. The only drawback was that our 1 bedroom apartment faced Lauriston Street. There are a few bars right next to the hotel that were loud on Friday, and so terribly loud on Saturday, that we all had to wear ear plugs to sleep, until they closed and the patrons left. You see, in the U.K., people can stand outside on the sidewalk and drink, and talk, and swear, and drink some more. The hotel has double-pained windows, which was great for every other night, there is just really nothing else to be done on the hotel's part. It is just the nature of the location. Sunday was heaven since the bars were not open!

A great place to stay in Edinburgh

Posted 10-Jun-2014
Pros: Attention to detail and unique needs: provisions we requested, excellent coffee and our nameplate on the door!
Cons: Easy to follow instructions for foreign visitors on how to adjust heating and work the towel warmer
Location: Walk to Edinburgh Castle and down Royal Mile; access to all the open top tourist bus routes; an excellent supermarket next door
A few days before arriving, a message arrived from Knight Residence enquiring about anything they could do to make our stay comfortable. The staff responded almost instantly to our questions. This willingness to meet our unique needs shaped our expectation as well as experience. The Residence is designed to be not just another hotel, but a home away from home. The 1-bedroom unit was a full fledged apartment with comfortable furniture, well appointed kitchen and spacious living/dining room. It has a great location, which gives easy access to all the key attractions in the City Centre. Finally, the security features create a very high sense of safety.

Gorgeous Apartment

Pros: We were very close to Edinburgh Castle and to many locations of activities.
Cons: I can't think of anything that needs to be changed. It's a great hotel.
Location: Edinburgh Castle is just up the hill and the Royal Mile is close. The "old town" is laid out very compactly so we were close to lots of things.
My husband and adult daughters and I stayed for 3 days at this services apartment. We loved it! It was so comfortable and pretty. It was very handy to have a full kitchen at our disposal. It was also very nice to have separate room so we all had a little privacy.

Comfortable apartment with all needs anticipated

The apartment building is relatively new but in the old part of town, close to the centre and tourist attractions as well as public transport. The people at reception are very knowledgeable about their city. Reception is open until late but not 24 hours.

Staying in Edinburgh - Stay here

Posted 27-May-2014
Wonderful service, excellent rooms, terrific location - if you are staying in Edinburgh for any length of time, simply, stay here. From the simple things like the breakfast basket, to free coffees and DVDs this as close to a home as a hotel can ever possibly be. The beds are firm, but good quality, the kitchen facilities perfect and all extremely clean and tidy. There is a small Sainsburys just around the corner and taxi pickups only a short walk away. A great stay in a great city. Made our trip memorable setting aside we were watching the children run their first marathon.

Even better the second time

Posted 25-May-2014 on Hotels.com
My second stay here. After being on a 7 hour red-eye flight, I wanted to have a large space to re-adjust for the first few days of vacation. The parking behind the building is very secure. We stayed in unit 19 on the 5th floor. Very clean throughout. There were two separate bedrooms, one with twin beds, one with a double bed. The living room had two french doors opening to the back courtyard, so we had a clear view of our car. Each room had a window as did the kitchen, situated on the front of the building. This created a wonderful cross breeze through the bedrooms. Everyone slept very well and awoke refreshed the next morning - something not often experienced on the first night of a hotel stay. A selection of breakfast cereals, milk, juice, toast and condiments were provided and we had access to a grocery store just around the corner. Edinborough Castle is located about a 8-10 minute walk from the hotel, provided that you can handle several flights of steps since it does sit on top of a hill. The walk along W. Port street which flows into Grass Market Square (GMS) is very enjoyable, with several old book stores, coffee houses, art and rare print shops. It's also great to have several restaraunts/pubs at the GMS, within a short walk. We felt quite comfortable walking at night, and even decided to extend our stay to 3 nights, using the Knight as our "home" base. Two thumbs, way up!
