“friendly people”
The staff was friendly and excellent. The ground were beautiful and clean. highly recommended
“very good”
enjoyed our stay very much lovely room and quiet location breakfast very good
“Not a good value”
This hotel has its reception located in another building. It is necessary to walk outside in any weather to check in. No sign on hotel entrance giving notification of location of reception. Have to search out someone for instructions, if you are lucky enough to find someone who can help. There is no elevator and no first floor guest rooms. No staff was around to help with a problem. To reach your room one must climb a high curved stairway lugging baggage! The bathroom was great as was the breakfast. However, rooms are not accessible for anyone with a handicap.
“First time in Edinburgh”
This hotel was a real surprise. It was a real value for the money and we enjoyed eating in the cafeteria too. It isn't for anyone for wants a luxurious place with lots of amenities, but for us it was the best. Clean, convenient, and safe. Our room was large and comfortable. We had a bit of trouble with the TV, and a staff member came over immediately to adjust it. There needs to be more lighting in the bathroom, but the size was immense compared to the tiny hotels we had been in on our tour of Scotland.
“Reliably good”
A good standard of accomodation at a reasonable price. Very convenient location for the festival. Breakfast was good (and nicer in the hotel than the main campus canteen).
“Good value and will return”
Hope to visit the fringe another year and intend to stay at the Salisbury Green again. Very pleased with the breakfast, room and bathroom spacious and clean, bus stop right outside the gate, with buses every few minutes into centre and easily walked as well.
“Second trip”
This is the second time I have stayed here to visit the Fringe festival.Last time our group had 2 rooms this time we had 3.Everybody was very happy, great staff, fab breakfast and the quietest hotel I have stayed in Edinburgh in the last 15 years of visiting.Bus stop over the road is great. £3.20 for an all day ticket + we never waited more than 5 minutes.Take a raincoat !
“Basic Dorm Room with no Ammenities”
The hotel is away from the main area. Difficult to get to. No temperature controls in room. Turned the heat off at night. I was very cold. Only basics in room. Not even a clock in the room. Charge extra for shower cap etc. No wash cloths (flannels) in room. Front desk stated they don't use them.Breakfast was the only nice thing about hotel. Worse experience I ever had in a hotel.
“great place to stay”
The hotel is located in a green site (part of the university residences). Both the the castle and Holyrood Palace are easily walkable (I'm in my late sixties) through beautiful parkland. Breakfast has a wide choice of high quality fruit, cheeses and traditional cooked food - all served with a smile. Eggs and bacon had been cooked too far in advance, but this is the only beef about an otherwise outstanding stay.
“Clean, but not perfect”
This hotel looks stunning from the outside, but the rooms lack character. It was clean and comfortable, but it was a bit of a walk to the Royal Mile and the main tourist areas. Breakfast was good.
