Substandard student accommodations

Posted 30-Jun-2015
Cons: See above!
Although I was convinced that I had paid already and relayed this information to the receptionist, the receptionist at the front desk suggested that their standard practice is to pay upon check-in. So, because I could not check my credit card statement on the spot, I agreed to have them charge it again. I then called my credit card company later that day and they confirmed that, indeed, I had already paid. I went back to the front desk to have them reverse the charge. The receptionist at the time (a different one from the earlier shift) called her supervisor and her supervisor told her that I had already been charged and instructed her to reverse the charge. She took my card, "reversed" the charge, and told me that I had to wait three days for it to clear. Four days later (after leaving the country) I checked and the charge was not reversed. I then called them and a new receptionist said that a reversal had not been processed but that she would process it. Besides that unnecessary drama, the bed in the room was positioned in a perfect place for you to hit your head on the bulk head above the bed and the room that I was given was a cave with no cell phone reception.

ähnelt einer Studentenwohnung, war jedoch sehr gepflegt und schön eingerichtet. Ich habe mich sehr wohlgefühlt. Von der Stadtmitte sind es ca. 10-15 Gehminuten.

Nice but small

Posted 20-Jun-2015
We booked a double room and it was split into two levels. Kitchen on the lower level with bed on higher level. Overall room comfort was good. However it was rather small. Unless you order the large room, you won't be able to fit more than 2 people in here. The kitchen was adequate with all kitchen equipment supplied. Bathroom was also very small, basin is low, but was adequate. The room was again small. bed was comfortable but pillows were flat. The wardrobe sits under a part under the ceiling so you had to crouch every time you wanted to get clothes. This room will not be good for tall people. Location - fantastic! Close to shops, food and main attractions. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

Pros: Excellently equipped. Staff were superb
Cons: Nothing
Location: All major tourist spots in central Edinburgh.
Main purpose of stay was to watch Edinburgh marathon but also spend some time visiting main tourist spots in Edinburgh. Location and all facilities in hotel were perfect.

very clean and comfortable close to city centre

Posted 12-May-2015
Pros: very clean, comfortable room. It is within walking distance of the city centre and the area seemed very safe and quiet.
Cons: the bathroom was very small albeit well designed for the space available. The bathroom extractor fan was so noisy we had to keep it switched off.
Location: Great location, walking distance to the city centre, we walked to the sights from the hotel both days of our stay.
The apartment was very modern and clean, it appeared very new and recently refurbished. It was nice to have the kitchen area and sofa/TV area separate from the sleeping area. We didn't really use the kitchen as we were only there for two nights, but I can see how useful it would be if we were staying longer. We did not arrive until late (after midnight) but a member of reception staff was still on the desk and we were able to check in without a problem, which was a big relief! The hotel was in a great location, Arthur's Seat is right next to it, and it is a two minute walk into Holyrood.

Very small, but good facilities

Posted 20-Apr-2015
Pros: Location, shower and kitchen
Cons: Size
Location: Lots of shops, restaurants nearby, plus the city centre is very close.
The apartment was a 20 minute walk from the Royal Mile and easy to find. We were able to check-in early, which was great. Size-wise, it was very small, the bed was only just large enough for 2 adults. The kitchen was very well equipped and the shower was fantastic. On the downside, most of the other apartments are occupied by students and there was noise late at night that kept me awake. The curtain was also broken and didn't close properly.
