“Edinburgh First for the Festival”
Great location, very convenient for traveling into the city. Very god breakfast, already recommended to several friends.
“Great”
I can't say enough about it. Great location, great service, great value. Very professional and friendly staff. Highly recommended and I would definitely stay there again.
“Pleasant surroundings, great price”
Comfortable
“Great Place to Stay”
My basic en-suite room was spolessly clean and offered the essentials - central heating when it rained and I got cold and wet , tea and coffee making kit and a comfortable bed. It was in a beautiful situation with landscaped gardens but has an excellent bus service to go into town . The food suffered from being mass produced and kept warm but there was plenty of it and a large choice and it was interesting to sit and mix with the amazing variety of people who were staying there .
“Great place to stay”
These dormitory rooms were clean and well-kept. As you might expect the room was not overly spacious, but it did meet or exceed all the needs of a traveler looking for a basic room. The breakfast was a cafeteria-style breakfast. There was a wide variety of food available to suit any appetite, and the prepared (hot) food was satisfactory (I've had better and worse). The location is right next to Holyrood Park, and an easy bus ride or a 15-20 minute walk to the city center. The reception staff was very helpful with guidance for using public transportation. I would definitely recommend Edinburgh First if you are staying in Edinburgh.
“Great value at Fringe time”
Our second stay at the university. Basic, comfortable room. Excellent breakfast, if a little crowded. Wonderful location for buses to town centre. All in all, great value and we would stay again.
“Recommended”
First time users of this facility. Booking was easy, check-in well conducted, and adequate free parking. Room was spotless and had everything we needed for our short stay. Breakfast was as copious as you wanted and efficiently delivered despite the hordes of people staying at this venue. Will certainly use again if possible.
“Ideal accommodation for a visit to the Edinburgh Fringe”
We were spending 4 days at the Fringe and booked this acommodation, expecting it to be fairly basic. Not at all! Our room was very spacious, clean, well furnished and absolutely ideal for our purposes. We had a balcony and spectacular views over the city and "Arthur's Seat" though we were probably just lucky in this! Our room had twin beds and my wife thought her mattress too firm. Breakfast was served in a very large dining hall, but we could usually find a table to ourselves if we wanted to. There's a well stocked shop and bar, and it was a very easy bus ride (No. 31 or 33) into the city centre, though usually we chose to walk. Range of reasonable restaurants nearby (use Google maps). We would definitely choose this accommodation again in similar circumstances. Wireless internet connection (at a small charge) if needed.
“would go back again definitely”
excellent food, good location, very clean, staff very friendly.will be my first choice again next year
“Excellent for groups”
Second time at Pollock Halls and still good. Friendly staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast has a huge range of options. Reasonably short distance to Fringe venues - not far to a frequent bus service and 10 mins ride plus taxis are never far away. I stayed with a group of friends - a couple and two singles. We each had a choice of room based on our budget and clubbing together for the £4-£5 taxi ride was more convenient and at times cheaper than taking the bus. I recommend Pollock Halls ... and the view of Arthur's Seat is great, too!
