“Can't wait to go back”
The quality of our room was excellent and very comfortable. The restaurants were of good quality and reasonably priced. The waiters were very friendly and gave good advice on the surrounding locality. We also enjoyed the swimmimg pool and spa facilities.
“Wonderful place to stay”
We only spent one night here (it is on the more expensive end), but we received a free room upgrade, which was wonderful. The room felt very luxurious, and everyone was very helpful and friendly.
“The best Spa hotel I have ever stayed in so far.”
The perfect Spa break. On check in, we were upgraded to an Executive Room. Beautiful, spacious room with King Size bed, ceiling to floor windows with patio doors which lead out onto a balcony, large flat screen TV, sitting area, fridge (with complimentary bottled water and a small carton of real milk for the tea and coffee), ironing board, iron and trouser press, large wardrobe and an amazing bathroom. Heated floor tiles, large bath with a TV in the tiles, complete with waterproof remote control and a separate, large, walk in monsoon shower. The Spa are itself is spotless and well maintained. Had a back massage then spent time afterwards in their "Relaxation Room" which is equipped with rest beds, reading light, magazines and refreshments to chill out after your treatment. Very peaceful. The gym equipment is well maintained, swimming pool, hydro pool, sauna and steam room fantastic. Changing facilities spotless too with monsoon showers, use of hairdryers etc. Staff are friendly and helpful and the staff in the Brasserie dining room were were attentive. Meal lovely. Cannot really fault this hotel at all. This is the second time I have stayed there. Have stayed in or visited a few 5* spa hotels but Norton House with its 4* rating is definitely my favourite. The fantastic cooked or continental breakfast can also be delivered to your room without any tray charge along with a complimentary Scotsman newspaper. What more could you want from a relaxing spa break.
“A Hidden Gem!!!”
Location, service, cleanliness and comfort all first rate. Excellent links to city by local transport, (after the pleasant 15 minute walk to the hotels main gate).
“Would stay there again!”
Quiet and peaceful if that is what you are looking for in a holiday. It's a bit away from Edinburgh city so there's not a lot of noise about, which mae it perfect for a relaxing break. My husband and I spent 4 nights there and also used the spa services, which were excellent. Staff were nice, friendly and polite. Breakfast was very good and generous.
“SUPER!!”
Great location just outside of the city and minutes from the airport. Set in a lovely park with FANTASTIC SPA. The hotel itself though a bit dated has ample charm. 2 restos- the bistro was great - the other a bit pricey. A definite go back to.
“Norton hotel service is to be commended.”
Excellent service, the staff were brilliant and catered to our every need with a smile. Food was excellent
“Another Handpicked success”
Everything as we expected for a handpicked hotel. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful and added to the festive cheer. It was so nice not to have small pots of UHT milk nor tiny slivers of wrapped soap!!. One disappointment - the sandwiches packed for our return journey were poor. There was no cucumber in the smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches and the bread was VERY thick - not appetising! But congratulations to the staff for everything else.
“Would certainly return / recommend”
Room lighting was the only negative about this hotel. The ambiance was wonderfully intimate and relaxing but you couldn't see properly to apply make-up even in the bathroom!
“Not cheap but pretty good.”
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the hotel in August as my cousin was getting married there. It's not a place we would normally choose as it's quite a way out of the city centre but the surroundings are very pretty and it made a lovely setting for a wedding. Overall, we were impressed by the service which was pleasant and friendly without the snootiness which many expensive hotels regard as part of the experience. We noticed that almost all the staff seemed to be locals which added to the 'Scottishness' of the weekend. The breakfast was particularly enjoyable and the food generally of a good standard. My only real complaint was the lighting in the bedroom. As so often in hotels, there was no central light and altho' there were about 6 lamps in the room it was impossible to see what you were doing. Ironing was a real challenge! But overall, it's a good, if pricey, place to stay.
