Great hotel, only downfall was the Wi-Fi. If you are planning on working from or checking emails at this hotel be prepared for very slow Wi-Fi speed. Half the time you have to try to keep connecting 😳

Good points Friendly, helpful staff. Room was spotlessly clean and serviced daily. Nice toiletries! Very conveniently situated to shops & road network. Bad points Decor looked VERY tired, though didnt bother me. Shower not easy to operate, though great when you got it working. Have stayed in Premier Inn and Travelodge and would choose Mercure above either for value for money.

Conveniently located near the airport for a one night stay. Hotel is looking a bit tired and could do with some renovation. Overall a good stay. We had one issue with the shower where the hot and cold taps that you had to turn on to mix were very hard to close, you had to use fully force and a towel to get the water to turn off. We believe the washers had gone.

Great stay. All staff helpful and polite. Hotel clean and spacious. Good choice of breakfast foods. Comfortable beds and a homely feel. Only down side which is minor is that breakfast finished earlier than that advertised in the hotel room on 2nd Jan so ended up missing breakfast on the last day.

New year stay.
Warm welcome upon arrival and an inviting atmosphere. Room spacious and very clean. All staff including housekeeping, front of house, night staff and catering were polite and very helpful. Food tasty and catered for a gluten free diet. Would definitely book again.

Overall very good. Staff friendly and efficient. One small problem was the shower. Trouble with the cold tap. We mentioned this on departure and was told maintainance would rectify this. This in no way made any difference to our stay and would definitely return.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we were visiting family. Upon arrival (Fri 29th) we were greeted by a very friendly front counter lady who gave my son a litle activity pack and engaged with him throughout the booking in process. We left a family member in the lobby whilst we went to our room and when we got back she was enjoying a hot chocolate next to the fireplace. She had been told to make herself at home - I thought this was lovely. My 4 year old is very active (loves to run), the other receptionist (red hair) was very accommodating and gave him paper and crayons to draw. Every time she saw him she would acknowledge him. The bar man was also very friendly, was happy to chat and went the extra mile by ensuring we were not overcharged when they ran out of a specific wine. Athought this hotel is very dated (worn carpet in room, colour scheme, hole in bathroom floor and in walls, old radiator, colour and varnish loss on doors, floors, and walls) the front if house staff definately made up for it. Housekeeping were not as attentive, they replaced our towels and made the beds but left the dirty cups/glasses in the room and didnt replace the finished toilet roll. Breakfast was lovely and had a good buffet selection. My family member was also able to join for a fee. Even though the hotel is dated and lacks gym/pool facilities - I would stay here again as the hospitality was on point.

Rooms are very dated and showing signs of their age. Evening receptionist was lovely and very welcoming, morning was meh. Not much sound proofing from corridors into rooms so a lot of noise. £17.50 for breakfast if you don’t book in advance (£10 if you do!) absolute con! Yes I’m hangry writing this, little sleep and hungry doesn’t mix well.

Always a Christmas Treat
We generally make an annual Christmas Trip here, it always welcoming and very comfortable with an excellent breakfast offer. Located right next to more shopping experiences yet quiet and tucked away from the busy roads with excellent waking routes along the Almond valley park.

Comfortable stay but tired decor at hotel
Hotel located close to the shopping centre. Staff all very friendly. Decor and floor coverings a bit tired but room very comfortable. On the down side breakfast serving time said 6.30-9.30 but was advised when we arrived at 6.40 that chef was running late but didn’t expect the hot breakfast not to be available until 7.20.

A great stay!
We only booked here as we had to move out of previous accommodation because someone had Covid. However it was an excellent choice of hotel with a very comfortable spacious bedroom, and a HUGE comfortable bed, with a quality duvet. The blackout curtains were brilliant and we had two excellent nights’ sleep. The buffet breakfast was exceptional and the evening meal was also good. Prices were very reasonable - we will be back!

Staff were excellent on many ways, however, when booking I requested connecting rooms (not critical) but didn't get that. My other request was for a ground floor room as my wife has a quite serious mobility problem . We were given a second floor room in hotel without a lift.

Overall stay was good and we extended beyond our stay by one day with no issues at all. Food Excellent; Staff Excellent (bar 1 who apologies profusely and apology accepted) with great service from Joy, Lewis and Stephanie. Was my wife's birthday and they went over and beyond in setting up the table for dinner. Overall it was fine and we will be back. The only niggles are if you are planning on the bigger premium rooms they are located on the second floor and they have no lift. My wife does have mobility issues, but we managed, If you cannot managed stairs then do not book a premium room. Also the premium rooms are shower only. Less than a minute from the motorway but not a sound was heard from it and it made it easy to head for our day trips.

Very pleased with my staff except for the WiFi.
Everything except the WiFi was at a high standard and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. The WiFi was useless and the reception said they were aware of the problem as it had a limited capacity at the moment. They were endeavouring to upgrade the router to handle a higher demand.

Check in was easy & lobby was spacious and comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms are slightly larger than many accommodations and appear to have been renovated within the not too distant past. There is a shopping center with a large superstore (groceries, clothing and more) plus designer outlets within a ten minute walk. There is lots of free parking for guests. We had one meal in the on site restaurant with a menu that has something for almost everyone and they provide breakfast for a price to guests which we did not partake because we were out and on the go every day. I think the strongest point of Mercure is the staff - they were all friendly and helpful and willing to go that extra little bit to help their guests. There are two rail corridors between Edinburgh and Glasgow which go right through Livingston so lots of opportunities for exploring the larger cities without having to drive. Both trains will require a car or taxi to the station. All in all a good place to settle for a while.
