“Good Weekend Stay”

We had a room that overlooked Princes St. and a view of Edinburgh Castle that was very spacious by European standards and was comfortable. The bed was a little too stiff for my taste but otherwise it was fine. The bathroom was clean and fairly modern; the only downside was the hot and cold water came out of separate taps and the hot water was VERY hot . . . there was no way to cool it down if you wanted to wash your face or hands. Construction out on Princes St. didn't bother us at all - we were gone during the day and they didn't work at night. And it didn't prevent us from getting around the city at all. Good location and proximity to New and Old Town, plenty of pubs and restaurants in either direction to choose from. OH, and down the block at Waverly Station is the AirLink shuttle bus to the airport. It's a very cheap 6GBP for round trip and drops you off close to the hotel, 30 minute round trip and it definitely is cheaper than the taxi. Overall a very comfortable stay for a weekend trip.

“Position, position, position”

Lovely place, fab view of the castle with excellent staff. Just remember that its a heritage building so the plumbing is not modern and therefore needs some patience. There was no AC in our room (again this is the price you pay to stay in beautiful heritage buildings) so I would be cautious about staying here is the heat of summer.

“Ideal for Edinburgh”

Ideal spot for our three night first-time stay in Edinburgh. Superb views and easy access on foot to Royal Mile and restaurants. Hotel just what we wanted.

“Great value hotel”

Room was clean and comfortable with an excellent view across the gardens towards Edinburgh Castle. Buffet breakfast provided a wide choice of food and staff were most helpful. The hotel is on Princes St close to all tourist and eating venues.

Business trip - room fine. Great location and views. Good breakfast.

“Edinburgh”

Great location, food very expensive and luke warm, £13 for breakfast. We booked late therefore received a reduction in cost so it was well worth it for us, however the rooms are dated and some of them face a wall out the back of the hotel.

“Trams”

This is in a great location to view the roadworks for the trams. This has been going on for at least 2 years and may go on a lot longer. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent especially the 'cook to order' options. Princes Street is not a quiet location.
