Hotel within walking distance of city

Posted 05-Sep-2014
Pros: Proximity to Edinburgh city
Cons: Clear advertising and more appropriate terminology.
Location: Went to Tattoo and took in all the city sights.
Basically student accommodation for the university. Facilities VERY basic and "tired". Only booked there because free car parking was advertised and we knew that we would need to park the hire car up while we were there as we were touring around the UK. When we arrived it was to find that we had to drive through the security for a number of complexes and they informed us that parking was on an availability basis and there was none. To be fair, security and hotel reception staff worked hard to solve the problem and did so but advertising was misleading. Had we known, we wouldn't have booked there. Hotel is a grand term for what appeared to be hostel-type accommodation. Chargen London prices for basic facilities.

Location: Location was perfect. It offered a quiet and beautiful campus with transportation close by.
Room was very clean and comfortable. Front desk was very helpful and welcoming. I would recommend this to anyone visiting.

Hall of residence

Posted 25-Aug-2014
Pros: The location and lack of fuss.
Cons: The weather :)
Location: Ideal for getting to and from Fringe venues.
This is a hall of residence, it is basic accommodation which is all we required The breakfast is the biggest buffet breakfast ever. This is all no frills, and was very good value for money for us to be within walking distance of the Fringe.

Clean, beautiful, and inexpensive.

Posted 07-Aug-2014
Location: It is very convenient to downtown Edinburgh.
Very pleasant staff. I stayed on the top floor in a simple, neat room with a beautiful skylight and pleasant view. Located on one of the campuses of Edinburgh University, it's a good location and certainly worth the money. Taxis close by, a student store that sells stamps and has a post box. Very pleasant, inexpensive stay. I'd definitely recommend it.

Dont Stay

Posted 03-Aug-2014
Pros: Food only
Cons: Staff, parking facilities, access keys, sound proofing
Location: Good location really handy to town
Limited parking means none and the closest is on residential streets a mile walk back if you can find a park Masson house is on a university campus so facilities are shared, parking, foodhall If your a couple staying you get only one electronic key to get inside and then thru an internal hallway door, so you must travel in and out together, bit of a pain while your finding that park a mile away

Good Location !

Posted 24-Jul-2014
Pros: Large breakfast selection (though it's the same every day)
Cons: Bathroom was TINY Biggest problem was walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbor talking (though not what they're saying)
Convenient for Exploring Center of Edinburgh You need to realize this is Student accommodation made available in the summer for Conferences and visitors.

Lodgings on student campus

Posted 30-Jun-2014
Pros: Use of free safe in room and good selection of food at breakfast.
Cons: Room servicing and parking.
Not a 3star hotel. Room small, holes in bed linen, sticky patches on carpet next to bed, taps difficult to turn off and in need of attention. Breakfast in another building and very noisy. Good selection but food not very hot and plates cold. We stayed 2 nights and although the bed was made the cups were not washed, milk not replaced, bin not emptied and shower room not cleaned. No dedicated parking for Masson House and being on campus there were numerous speed humps. A disappointing stay.
