Overnight visit

Posted 08-Nov-2014 on Hotels.com
Location is great, pool is good. But we reported a problem with the sink - plug jammed and tap not working - at 5pm on the day we arrived. No-one had come to look at - as promised by reception - when we left at 11am the next day. So we had to brush teeth in the bath.

Room

Posted 06-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
Very disappointed with room on 3rd floor. Had to walk past foot of bed sideways (like a crab) as chest of drawers so close. 1 spare socket in room if TV on . No mirror by socket to dry hair . No room in bathroom to place toiletries therefore had to keep on chest of drawers. Furniture dated . Felt we were in attic room and tainted overall opinion of hotel .

Pros: Location, space, and wee corners of the main reception rooms, size of the sofas and chairs, very comfortable.
Cons: None
Location: Near the sea, lovely walks to town, wee local shops, excellent for gifts, local coffee house.
Excellent from start to finish, supper and wine superb, staff very helpful, music just right

Tired, shabby and dirty

Posted 04-Sep-2014
Pros: Great location
Cons: The hotel needs renovating and repairing
Location: North Berwick is a delightful town surrounded by stunning coastline and many great links golf courses
We are two couple who booked a 2 night stay in the delightful town of North Berwick. Our expectation was that the MacDonald Marine would be a high quality hotel that would provide for a relaxing and restful couple of days overlooking the beautiful coastline. Instead, we found the hotel to be run down, in need of renovation and repair and, worst of all, it was dirty. The building itself is stunning with a superb location. From the outside, it looks everything you could expect. Unfortunately, the inside did not match the expectation and seems to be suited to accommodating groups of golfers wanting to experience the large number of superb links courses along the coastline. We reported our disappointment on arrival and on departure and have still not received satisfaction from the hotel.
