“Excellent 'business style' modern hotel.”
As expected, an efficient business like hotel close to the Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace. We were on a pleasure trip and did not eat in teh hotel, but otherwise everything was clean, efficient and comfortable.
“wonderful”
Booked this hotel for American friends. They were delighted with everything. Loved the location and found the staff very friendly and helpful.
“Good quality hotel”
We had a lovely weekend in this hotel. All staff were friendly and obliging and I would go back if I were ever return to Edinburgh.
“Excellent hotel for a weekend in Edinburgh”
The hotel is very well placed to walk everywhere. It is well maintained and staff were all very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed our snack in the bar. It was great and we intend to stay there the next time we visit Edinburgh.
“good value/service”
Barb & Kathy were very satisfied with their experience. Pleasant staff, good location, nice accommodation.
“Good value & very efficient staff”
Did exactly what it says on the tin and provides a good base for your weekend trip to Edinburgh The staff remebered my name after checking in straight away and were willing to help. no problem checking in at 10 in the morning and out at 12 on departure then visiting the pool. Service as it should be - well done guys
“Excellent”
Great service , wonderful rooms, great bar & facilties.
“In the historic heart of Edinburgh”
Early morning sunrise in Edinburgh and the sun is glistening of the stonework of the historic buildings as I take advantage of the early hour and the quietness to walk around and photograph the wonderful buildings.
“Comfortable hotel, needs some rennovation.”
I stayed at the Macdonald Holyrood for two nights on business. Overall I was pleased with the expereience and I would return to the hotel again. However there are a few minor negative points that may be worth knowing. Firstly the service in the hotel was mediocre at best. At both check in and check out the staff were unenthusiastic and borderline rude. I certainly had no impression that my custom was appreciated. The hotel itself would have felt like the height of luxury 10 years ago but the rooms are starting to show their age. My 'classic' room had a tired old CRT TV with poor picture quality and was dumped on a rickity stand at the end of the bed. The built in mirrored wardrobe also looked dated and was awkward. The room had three comfortable chairs (two of which were noticibly stained) and a very nice wooden desk. The bathroom was lovely and seemed far more at home in a 4* hotel. Most importantly, the bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet and relaxing. I would reccomend this hotel but only at a reduced rate.
“Great New Year”
Decided on spur of moment to go to Edinburgh at New Year for a couple of days. Got a good deal at the Holyrood Hotel through Expedia. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Stayed room only. Room was clean and well equipped. Hotel is in a fab location - all attractions within easy walking distance. Hotel very quiet at night. Have stayed here before and would not hesitate to go back when we next visit Edinburgh.
