“Good clean hotel to stay in, but the people who work there have no clue what customer service is”
The place was nice and as described but the customer service was crap and wouldnt with that kind of treatment on anyone. The late check in guy was the most unhelpful, slow, and generally dense person I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. GET NEW HELP OR CLOSE DOWN THE PLACE
“Could be really good but....”
I've just stayed there on a 2 night business trip. On the positive side the apartment was very modern, spacious and clean. Amazing views over the Forth. The shower was excellent - very powerful. On the negative side i found the hot-el difficult to find, whilst phoning for directions reception answered 2 of the 4 phone calls. The tv didn't work on the first night (not the hot-el's fault). The little touches weren't there - nowhere to put soap/ shampoo in the shower, blunt knives, double bed was 2 singles pushed together.... If you're looking to stay near main central Edinburgh attractions and you don't have a car - this is NOT for you. Unless you're happy waiting for a bus, which takes 20/30 mins into Edinburgh city centre. However at the rate i paid per night, and you do have a car the hot-el represents excellent value. I wouldn't recommend it, but will consider staying again.
“Great self catering apartment with convenient access to city and highlands”
The apartment was even better then I anticipated based on other reviews. The property was clean and well maintained. The location, with a bus stop one block away to the #10 line that goes right to the center of the city, a large grocery store within walking distance and easy access to the firth of forth bridge for access to all areas north, was awesome. I would not hesitate to make this the basis for another trip to Scotland.
“Edinburgh Stay”
We had two units. Mine was in good working order and very clean, but the other one had broken dishwasher, washer/dryer, and part of the cabinet was hanging loose. We told the front desk, but hey could not get maintenance out ther on the weekend. Very disappointing. Close to bus stop, but not much else near the apartments in the way of eating places or entertainment. Overall, good apartment if it works, and close enough to take buses to other locations for entertainment and sightseeing or dining.
“Totally enjoyed our Stay”
The hotel was spacious and perfect for 4 of us. We enjoyed having a kitchen and the fridge. the View from the hotel was nice too. We enjoyed taking evening and morning walks too. We were able to get food delivered easily and that was a big plus.
“Another good stay at the Hot El Waterfront”
Another short stay here and, again, another nice experience. Spacious apartments that gave our little son space to explore that he just wouldn't get in a hotel room. Well equipped kitchen with nice fixtures and fittings (largely from Ikea) and just a modern home from home. Those who prefer their apartments to be more oldy-worldy will dislike the modern sterility, but we like it and it works for the kids. A bus stops within a 2 minute walk of the apartment every 10 minutes and currently costs £3 and £2 for an all day pass for adults and children respectively if you prefer not to take the car into Edinburgh...and if you are having the full day in the city, the bus will definitely work out cheaper than the car parks or metered on street parking (£2 per hour along Jeffrey Street). And then there's the Britannia nearby and cinema etc., not to mention Leith's developing night-life...though with kids we really didn't see much of this. One small thing - if you are booking through Expedia (though this is risky as the apartments do fill up), leave your booking until later - we could have saved £24 per night on a two bed apartment had we booked closer to the date. However, we had already booked front row seats at the Lyceum Theatre, so didn't want to leave anything to chance this time. Edinburgh is a lovely city to visit near Christmas and New Year.
“Will definately be staying there again”
These apartments are top class we were given a massive three bedroom aprtment with a large balcony. The apartment overlooked the waterfront . It had everything supplied that we may need even down to dish washer tablets washing up liquid tea towels which you normally have to take with you. The big american style fride was great as it crushed ice for our drinks. There was even a hairdryer supplied lovely spft fluffy towels and complimentary soap. The number 10 bus stops right outside and is it costs £3.00 for a day ticket and takes you straight to princess street. We love staying in Leith and it is the second time we have stayed in ths area and would recommned to anyone. It its very convenient for the whole of Edinburgh. Also the free Wi Fi was freat too.
“Highly recommended”
Our Hot-el-apartment at Edinburgh Waterfront was much better than expected. A really modern apartment with everything provided you could possibly require. Excellent location for catching the local bus into Edinburgh (about 15/20 minutes) which takes you straight into Princes Street. Also great for visiting the shopping mall and Royal Yacht Britannia on the waterfront. The yacht visit is well worth a look. There was also a 24 hour Asda just a few minutes drive away.
“Stylish apartments near Edinburgh”
The apartments are a great lower cost option compared to staying in the centre of Edinburgh & make a good base for exploring further afield. The main reason for choosing the apartments was for a view of the Firth of Forth and I wasn't disappointed. Plus, there was the added bonus of being able to see the Royal Yacht Britannia from my window. It's only a short walk to the delightful harbour of Newhaven with along the footpath & certainly a more attractive prospect than Western Harbour Drive. The area to the east of the complex was fenced off but it already has has some road laid down & landscaping suggesting that more blocks will go up when the Leith development restarts which is a shame as it'll obliterate the view & remove what little greenery there is. The number 10 bus stop to the City is across the road which only takes around 20 mins to Princes Street & there's plenty of parking around the site or underground. Although I'd booked a single room I was upgraded to a 2 bed apartment which gave me way more room than I needed including 2 bathrooms! This would be an ideal option for families but be aware this isn't a hotel and in my 1 week stay there's wasn't any housekeeping - there wasn't even any stationery! However, a couple of light bulbs packed up & they were immediately fixed when I reported it. A fully equipped kitchen & Asda is only 1/2 mile away.
“Good quality apartments, parking area was still under construction”
Good quality apartments and a very convenient Asda pretty much right next door. The parking area was still under construction which was a bit annoying at the time but the waterfront section outside the hotel was a nice. These apartments are only a 10 minute drive from the city so it was very convenient.
