“Good on the whole but some changes needed”
Hotel is in a quiet location 15 minutes walk from city centre. Public rooms are well appointed and food is good, particularly the bar food. We were upgraded to a nice large room, however there are 2 things that need correcting. One is the lack of lighting in half the room around TV area where it was impossible to see anything. The other is the bathroom window which was very draughty and made the bathroom cold, this needs to have a heavy blind or curtain adding. The furniture in the room also could be improved. Having said that, all the staff were very helpful and service was excellent.
“Hilton Town-house is comfortable and homely”
Felt the room was tool small for the furniture in it - with a glass coffee table that I kept knocking into + breakfast in Tounhouse was rather poor. Stale croissants and cold coffee. Otherwise it was a nice clean and comfortable hotel with friendly staff

“great rooms and good value”
excellent room and services. some of the corridors are slightly shabby but overall very good value.
“hilton townhouse”
We asked to be relocated as there was a stag party going on in the main hotel into which we had booked, and noise levels were above my tolerance levels. The hotel management was completely responsive and we were relocated into the Hilton Townhouse wing which much better suited our needs. service friendly and professional and staff keen to ensure our stay was enjoyable. I would recommend the townhouse as opposed to the main hotel as rooms very pleasantly re-furbished to a high standard.
“Better than average but not as good as expected”
The Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor is located very near Haymarket station and on the bus route from the airport. The hotel is therefore easy to reach but Haymarket is not the centre of the city, the area is a bit scruffy and the hotel lacks around it the better quality restaurants and coffee shops. It's about fifteen minutes walk from Princes Street so it's a bus or taxi in the rain. That said, the hotel itself is perfectly acceptable and not too corporate or impersonal. Reception was quick and efficient and the room allocated to me was large and clean. I did, however, think the room lighting was much too dim, especially so in the bathroom - it was difficult to shave - but other than that everything was fine if just a little dull and bland. Noise seemed to travel between rooms rather more than might have been expected from the substance of the building. One group during one night was particularly noisy and everything they said could be heard through the walls until about 2.30 in the morning. Perhaps I should have complained but they were not being offensive, just happy to be in Scotland on holiday. Room doors close with a resounding bang that can be heard for a long way. I ate one night in the restaurant - quite alone as the place was empty! The food was ok rather than remarkable and I thought it overpriced, especially if one included side dishes.
“Good but awkward room configuration”
Good location, comfortable bed, but the tiny closet in the room is in a poor location with door opening the wrong way.
“Good hotel in an older building...”
Considering this Hilton is in an older building it was alright. The staff was very helpful with whatever I needed. The restaurant has a decent selection and portions were adequate. The beds were passable except my wife wasn't used to them so she was sore the next day. One thing that was disappointing was the shower water pressure. It was almost at a trickle. It was still usable but left a lot to be desired. The location puts within walking distance of Edinburgh castle and the Princes St. shops. Also haymarket rail station is just down the road for day trips out of town. Overall a good hotel.
“its ok but ....”
Its a Hilton, it is well located within walking distance of the center of Edinburgh, its located within a street of converted "new town" houses (so do not expect it to be a custom built new hotel). The rooms are small, and reasonably comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful, its probably not what you would expect from a 3/4 star hilton however. My one major complaint (small though it is) is that the shower water pressure is pathetic ... I have got wetter in a heavy fog ... come on! - I want a strong stream of hot, constant water ... not a piddling dribble that I have to dance under to get wet/clean ...
“Not Impressed.”
This hotel looks great when you arrive tired and hot from travelling. But we were told we were staying in the annex which is a seperate building across the road, which made us feel we were staying in an appartment and not a hotel. The room was like an oven with no air conditioning or window that could be opened. Also there is only one seat per room. When we complained we were advised that two seats means an upgrade to deluxe. We were moved on our first move to a dusty room in the main hotel. Bathroom was from the 70's and not what you would expect from a four star hilton hotel. However we only got two nights in this room before being moved to another room due to a broken toliet. However the staff in the hotel were very polite and helpful.
