“Best Western Edinburgh City”
Best Western Edinburgh City is a very nice hotel. Very clean. Friendly staff. Good accesto Lothian buses
“comfortable”
Comfortable an quiet despite reception undergoing renovation. Good value for money.
“Great hotel that is reasonably priced”
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable and overall very clean.
“A good bet”
High point - very good, friendly staff. Location pretty good too - short walk to Royal Mile etc. Only real problem is parking - Princes Exchange underground car park is close, and not hugely expensive (with hotel's 20% discount), BUT for some obscure reason there's no access between 7.30 and 9.30 am. On-street parking is only allowed for 4 hours during the day, is expensive and is vigorously enforced. Overnight (6.30pm to 8.30am) and Sundays are no problem as on-street parking, right beside the hotel door, is free during those times.
“Fine hotel”
Everything was perfect: lovely room , nice reception staff. The only think was that the location was a bit out of the way.
“Don't ever stay here”
dark, gloomy, very tiny rooms, was an old hospital, no a/c
“It's okay, but...”
The public areas are dull, tired and smell stale. Our room was newly decorated but dull. Breakfast was hit and miss. Short staffed so the continental buffet was overlooked and not quickly replenished even when quiet. Dishes and cutlery in short suppl, and often dirty. Staff could not cope with a full room of guests. Cooked food was okay, but not convincing to eat in the evening there. Reception is tatty as are public toilets. Overall disappointing. Parking is a nightmare. Nice staff though. Not worthy of spending our hard earned cash to stay again. Other 3 star best westerns perform better.
“Within comfortable walking distance to the castle, theaters, shopping & dining”
Driving in Edinburgh is not recommended, so having a convenient car park just steps away to safely leave the vehicle was a huge benefit. The hotel is also very close to everything you could want, including a post office. The price was very reasonable, and the staff was friendly & helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
“Good Value, but basic”
The location was pretty close to everything. They were painting in the hallways so the smell was pretty strong. The safe in the room wasn't operational. The bar was very limited and the receptionist/bar tender didn't know how to pour a beer or a full drink so I would skip that next time. The restaurant food was forgettable. If you just want a clean place to sleep it is fine.
“Pretty good hotel”
Staying in this hotel was a pleasant experience. It is conveniently located, it's only a short walk to get to Grassmarket. The room was nice, spacious and clean. I was satisfied with the assistance and service provided by the staff of the hotel, they were always nice and willing to help. The breakfast was included and it was great, a great variety of food to choose from. The only problem I had was the bed. I was traveling with someone so I booked a room with twin beds. For some reason they gave us a room with a single queen size bed. When we told them about the issue brought another bed to the room, but it was really small and uncomfortable to sleep on.
