"West Ender"
Had a three night stay in Edinburgh over the May Bank holiday weekend. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from one of our favourite wine bars, Wyndams, so perfectly placed for us.Plenty to do in Edinburgh, even when its raining as it usually is when I visit! Apart from last September when it was boiling. Top tip- Dont bother with the Blair Street Vaults, nothing much to see and a bit of a rip off. The hotel is pleasant enough but more of a guest house really. Breakfast is served in the basement with the usual choice of fruit, cereals followed by bacon & egg, sausage is a bit rank. They could do with importing a few Cumberland's. All the staff are friendly and helpful

"Nice hotel close to the Royal Mile "
Room is large and clean. Has all the amenities. Staff is helpful. Breakfast is great. Hotel is 1 block from the Royal Mile and close to the train station and within walking distance of all the attractions. However, there is only ONE elevator for the entire hotel which made wait times quite long sometimes.

"room with a view"
Arrived at reception at 9am, spoke to receptionist about early access to the room and about an hour later I was in my room. After flying in from Florida this was appreciated. Tea and coffee making facilities were available although socket box for plugging in was missing. Hotel is being renovated so a few workmen around and a bit messy but this did not impact me. Kitchen provided sandwiches for me after a late night arrival from visiting Oxford. Also had lunch in the coffee lounge, friendly service and good food.

"Excellent hotel close to city sites and transport"
After walking in the Highlands we arrived in Edinburgh for one day of sightseeing before flying out the next day. Motel One Royal provided exactly what we wanted, clean, quiet, good shower and a nice ambiance at a reasonable rate. The location is excellent, close to the train station and airport transport. Another plus, we were able to check in early. Would stay at this hotel again and will definitely look at Motel One when we are traveling in major cities.

"Beautiful suite.. Aircraft toilet"
On arrival we checked in early, staff had put into place email requests (candles, wine and afternoon tea - although parts missing off menu). Very warm welcome, excellent first impression and room beautiful (room 5 - Georgian suite). Bed huge and comfy although it was two mattresses pushed together which was disappointing. The stunning floor to ceiling windows would not stay open and the room was very warm. Bathroom was gorgeous - free standing open plan bath and a huge double shower cubicle. With the room was advertised luxury toiletries - nothing luxury about them and no bubble bath which was a huge oversight. Other negative was the toilet - when sitting on the toilet, knees were touching the door - was like going to the toilet in a cupboard. There was a storeroom next door and the motion sensor light going on in the night woke us up several times. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and could not fault the breakfast - huge choice of continental and cooked breakfasts, allowed to pick and choose which elements. Haggis on cooked breakfast was beautiful. Staff attentive. Didn't eat in the bistro at dinner (20% discount offered for guests) but did enjoy an excellent meal at Vittoria, down the road. On check out we were charged for afternoon tea at £18.95 pp despite it being advertised at £12.50 but this was resolved without issue when I pointed it out. I realise I'm being picky but it was a very expensive room and with some minor changes it would be an exceptional hotel.

"A wonderful site for a mini break on Princes St."
*I went away for a mini break with my elderly mum and we both thoroughly our stay. The hotel was near the railway station, buses, taxi's and the tour buses. I had been concerned about the stairs up to the reception but by ringing the assistance bell at the bottom of the stairs staff came down to help with luggage and I could help mum up the stairs. The room even though it was on one of the lower floors and a room a the side although near the front had a lovely view of the main street. The lift was easily accessable. A little noisy from the traffic at first but we soon got used to it and slept really well the beds very amazingly comfortable. The staff were all very helpful, polite and friendly particularly with mum being elderly. The food was lovely in the restaurant, on the last night we tried the bar meals which we also enjoyed. The bar was always busier the restaurant. It was also a hotel with a history.
